1. Israeli speak for "We'll attack Hezbollah/Lebanon"
lydia ,   Brisbane   (09.12.13)
Israel shouldn't forget the last time it attacked Hezbollah when Bush gave them not 6days but 34days to subdue the rags tag army of resistance fighters Israel instead got flogged. With Hezbollah rockets poised and ready to target Israel perhaps Israel will again rue the day it starts yet another ME conflict.
2. I look forward on Israeli politicians
Barak Hussein Obama   (09.12.13)
turning their back on American military aid, seeing as they are in it for themselves and have to rely on themselves. I'll let you into a secret, as long as they x-band radar is in Israel, Netanyahu will keep putting his hand in the US taxpayer's pocket, this is for a domestic Israeli audience only. The reality without the support of the United States Israel would have ceased to exist in 1976
3. Israel's red lines will be enforced
CJK   (09.12.13)
israel will not outsource her national security to anyone. russia, assad, iran, hezbollah and the rebels all have to understand that israel will always defend her national security.

5. oh, so now they get it
robert   (09.12.13)
livni asks why the world does not sanciton assad for using chemicals?? Livni is living in dreamland with her airy fairy ideas about US abd EU and how Israel can depend on them for its security. What an imbecile! Olmert the same! US US in tuches. they can provide materiel that is it. So now bibi gets it... If I am not for myself. And peres should shut up--okay--I tell Peres,s hut up, you are a ceremonial president, not the p,, so shut up. No concessions should be made in talks with abbas;in fact, demands should be made of abbas to recognize israeli sovereignty over jordan valley, mountain ridges and east jerusalem and no right of return, not one. And if he bolts, let them. Feiglin is righ. The whole pack of them are sitting on israeli land and should get the hell out and they will in the next 3 wars Livni should be removed from peace talks and lieerman and bennett inserted..And likud should throw out bibi and fast.

Netanyahu red lines are red lines make no mistake , if crossed hell will follow , and Hezbollah and Syria will be no more.
8. Obama's grasp foreign affairs...
Moshe ,   US   (09.12.13)
Truthfully, does anybody except Leftist ideologues really think Obama has handled all matters in this Syrian affair in a way that inspires confidence?
9. Good for Israel
Curtis ,   USA   (09.12.13)
Laying it on the line is the only way to go. Stating your position unequivocally and forcefully will gain other leaders' respect.

international organizations can't, sadly, be in the cards, especially after we have observed how cynically the international community, led by the US, deal with such matters.....

Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (09.12.13)
So if things went all so well for Hezbollah, why does Nasrallah continue to hide in a bunker thirty feet underground? And you do, I trust, realize that if Hezbollah attacks Israel, Lebanon -- stinking hellhole that it is -- will simply cease to exist. Don't you? You've been watching way too much Al Jazeera. Israel can take Lebanon off the map pretty much whenever it wants. Now, take a reality pill and get back to scrubbing toilets. You don't want to get fired, do you?

I appreciate your comment, but Israel isn't in the least bit interested in gaining the "respect" of Arab and Moslem states. Israel adopts the Machiavellian view: It is better to have someone fear you than love you. You can never compel someone to love you, but you can make certain that they fear you. We're quite content to have our enemies fear us. And they do. I believe they have a very healthy respect for the State of Israel. They've had six occasions from which to learn what happens when that respect lessens. Israel has taught them some very unpleasant lessons. Our enemies hate us, to be sure, but they also fear us greatly -- and that translates to respect. I doubt that any sane Arab or Moslem leader really wants Israel to kick them to the curb a seventh time. As to the insane ones -- well, if they incur Israel's wrath, they will be taught a very hard lesson. And Israel will grow in size -- at the expense of some of its neighbors. They're pretty lousy as neighbors go, anyway.

SARAH your posts as always are great. Keep it up!!!!!
18. Lydia of Brisbane anUpside Down World View
Claude ,   London GB   (09.12.13)
Maybe the view from Brisbane is somewhat tipsy, but by all objective readings Hezbollah has failed in its skirmishes and wars with IL Not one sq cm of IL territory has been captured, Hezbollah has succeeded in dividing its host nation and its operatives have to live in bunkers. Israelis live and work in towns right up on the border, while similar towns under Hezbollah side live in squaller and fear of their Shi it masters. Some victory.! Hezbollahs strategy of supporting Assad has earned it plenty of brownie points at home and much of the ME I wonder how long it will be before they are forced to abandon their rat holes and decamp to Iran. If you were a military strategist, you would not get any performance related pay, maybe a redundancy payment instead
19. #11 You will act in a manner dictated to
Ivor EVenbiggergun   (09.12.13)
by your American allies. Without the x-band radar operated by the Americans in Israel all your fancy anti missile shite is nothing more than scrap metal In the scheme of things Israel need the United States not the other way round, and with AIPAC failing to get enough congressmen and sentaors on the hill to vote for war against SYria the omens at the moment are not looking good.

aaron ,   toronto,canada   (09.12.13)
As usual you get your facts all mixed up, who was the wuss that CRIED A RIVER WANTING ISRAEL TO STOP WHILE HIZZBOLLAH WERE HIDING IN SCHOOLS AND BEHIND WOMEN AND CHILDREN,nassrallah still living underground going on eight years, what a victory.
21. Hezbollah fanatics and WMDs
Brod ,   USA   (09.12.13)
The fanatics may well have secretly obtained WMDs from Syria. Israel is not on the ground there 24/7 to monitor such a move. Islamist-Jihadist fanatics are nut cases and will not care about red lines imposed on them.
22. Israel Needing A War ..... Any War.
World Citizen ,   the world   (09.12.13)
A war to take the Israeli mind off of the fact that life in Israel is not nearly as fulfilling or financially viable as say in the UK, France, the USA, Canada, Brazil or even, dare I say it, Germany? The oligarchs running your sad country need you. What would property values be if you decided to head to greener pastures? How could they charge the outrageous rents and prices for cottage cheese? So they must have a war to hold the people in a state of fear. "The holocaust is coming, the holocaust is coming. Israel is the last refuge for the Jews yada yada yada" You get the picture.

The day Israel gets involved that's the day this mess will get resolved not before. You're a fool that doesn't understand that a country fighting for its existence verses a country fighting out of hate will ALWAYS BE VICTORIOUS.
24. Lydia
Hertzel ,   TA   (09.12.13)
The so called "victory" is the same "victory" the arabs claimed in 56 67 73 82 2011 and so on. It makes one wonder how is IL is still thriving and safe and secured with so many losses to the arabs? Once Israel really looses a battle tto it's enemies, the world will know and will know well- since you will see every jewish baby mother man and women slathered in the streets of Israel, YOU THAN WILL HAVE NO DOUBT THAT IL lost, the CRULTY of IL,s enemies is much worse than what the worlds had ever seen. Now, as to you freinds the Hizziz - well they will b e NO MORE after the next war with Israel, and if you are married to one of these bozoz have him get his family out of there asap. shooting missiles into Israel from bldgs windows and nocking out 3 tanks is no victory.... most of south Lebanon is still recovering from the "victory".
25. #19 "the omens at the moment are not looking good."
A ,   Belgium   (09.12.13)
They sure aren't as Oblabla is itching to save face after being humiliated and outclassed by czar Putin and is looking for any excuse to get into another brawl with an arab country that America has, as earlier, no hope of winning. Looks bad for the U.S.indeed!
