It is deplorable -to say the least- that the writer, in tune with all our "arab friends" never mention the up rooted jewish communities from the arab countries. My spouse was born in Damascus, her family, well to do in real estate and commerce, had to leave in the middle of the night, leaving everything there. Let us talk about these people and their losses. There are no bridges. Palestinians will never ever accept jewish existence .All peace agreements with them are mere tricks to get a better fighting position.So either we israelis flinch, pack up and leave or the other side accept its defeat .Now the more we give up during this silly 20 years-om stupid Oslo process the more the other side will clinch to their hope of wiping us out.Let's say that the military battlefield has been replaced with the demographic battlefield.The fertility rate of jewish woman is at 3 the palestinian fertility is at 4 .Let's see who will won in 40 years from now.

In the first few years following a Peace Agreement and establishment of a Palestinian state,there may be sporadic terror attacks, as happen now in Europe and USA (I believe no more than 3-4 years) Normal relaitions will be established with the vast majority of Arab and Muslim States. Israel will have to resettle about 100,000 Jews who will return to live within the new and permanent borders of Israel. (In 1960 one and a half million French were returned from Algeria) The demografic danger of one state between the sea and Jordan will have disappeared. In the long term Israel will become a normal country. The high cost of having a military which receives about half of the GNP will slowly be cut until after about two decades it wll resemble the % in other OECD countries. At present there is an enormous brain - drain of academics because there is no money for research and Israeli universities cannot offer employment to many brilliant people. This situation will also improve, together with that in schools as more and more funds become available. Palestinians will be free to work in Israel, and they can replace many of those from China, Turkey. Thailand and numerous East European countries. At present there is an enormous amount of "Islamic Terror" in many parts of the world. As a result of a Peace Agreement in the ME, I forsee a gradual reduction of attacks by Muslims against non Muslims. Israel will no longer be the "whipping boy" of the UN and will become a normal UN member, sitting on committees and councils and contributing our share to the World body.

Judea and Samaria now how almost 700,000 Jews. Roughly 20% more than the Jewish population of all Israel in 1948. First, the Balfour Declaration states that the creation of a Jewish homeland was sublect to limitations which precluded it from becoming a purely Jewish state: " it being clearly understood that nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine." Second, the San Remo agreement and subsequent Mandate separated the land east of the Jordan River from the land covered by the Balfour Declaration. Third, what would become Jordan was created with the approval of the League of Nations only months after the Mandate was passed. Fourth an lastly, all of this was done long before Adolf Hitler's rise to power and the start of WWII. Butseriously, with errors like these how can you expect anyone to take you seriously? Not that anything written here about the past really matters --what matters are the negotiations now taking place between the PA and Israel about our future.

The talks are only taking place because Bibi lacks the courage to give Obama a straight "NO". However, Israel will soon have a P.M. who has no such problem. Israel is not going to submit to any disastrous plan cooked up with the P.A. Count on it!

let your presuppositions and wishful thinking blind you to the possibility that the negotiations will end with Israel's recognition of the State of Palestine and withdrawal from Judea and Samaria. Bibi is right when he states that the settlement policy is not the reason for the conflict between Palestinian Arabs and Israel. But Bibi also knows or should know that the settlement policy IS the reason for Israel's conflict with the rest of the non-Arab, non-Moslem world. And in that context, the current negotiations are anything but "meaningless."

Prof. Arnon Sofer who is most certainly not a Leftist, has said many times that a separation from the Palestinians is necessary to ensure the future of Israel. Do you really believe that it is possible to expel 3 million Palestinians from their homes, or leave them there as 2nd class citizens? Wake up! South Africa is creeping up on you.
