31. #14, Your reading of history is childish.
Michael ,   California, USA   (10.11.13)
Quote whatever you want from all the irrelevant books and remember the millions who perished with words on their lips. Then try to remember those who took a weapon and fought, like this unfortunate victim, a high officer of IDF. He went outside, did not hide behind books, understand? He fought and saved the rest of his family, saved his wife who hid for two hours in the bushes. Once you understand history and what happened to this officer, come back to apologize.

33. Cut US aid to Palestinians
Cynthia ,   USA   (10.11.13)
While Obama cuts funding to our vets and allies, the US remains the major funding source for the Palestinians. We must stop pouring money into the hands of people who sponsor terror.
34. Did we kill at random when we were oppressed, #1?
Vered, Israel   (10.11.13)
I happen to believe we have a right to be in this land, regardless of religious sentiments. Even if we did not have our religious beliefs, we're from here. After 2000 years of not attacking the residents who were here, we got a vote from the presiding legal world body, the UN, to have a state. We were immediately attacked, and when we defended ourselves, Arabs were displaced. What does any of that have to do with one specific man's desire to kill another specific man in his home? We've recovered from so much, (although according to you, we'd be within our rights to go on a crime binge against the Germans) why can't the Arabs recover from a war they started and lost 60 years ago?
35. #30 Of course there are...
Tahl   (10.11.13)
The vast majority of Jews are exactly like you said, believing in peace and equal rights to all, regardless of faith. But #1 is not one of them, as apparently he does not believe the deceased deserved the right to live peacefully at his home. There is no connection whatsoever between wishing for peace and equality, and justifying terrorism against innocent civilians. Only brain-dead idiots and/or terror sympathizers can make this ludicrous analogy.
36. We will catch the perpetraters and hand them over to you

40. ... But since the assumption is
Adi   (10.11.13)
based just on the Retired IDF Colonel wife testimony, and considering that probably the retire colonel had a gun at home, it doesnt make sense when the article says the Colonel Wife witnessed the scene from the window while in another part of this article says they, both heard suspicious voices. Jewish people also speak arabic, probably the Retired Colonel also knew to speak arabic.

Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.11.13)
Do you mean to suggest that the Kingdom of Israel and the Kingdom of Judah never existed? The Jewish people were a nation while most of the rest of the people in the world swung from trees, painted their faces blue and howled at the moon. Does the fact that Malmo is culturally more part of the Arab and Moslem world make it any less a part of the Kingdom of Sweden? There is no place for Arabs in the State of Israel. They have twenty-two states of our own. That they insist that the Jewish state belongs to them, too, speaks volumes, doesn't it? It's certainly the genesis for their violence and terror, even if it is not even remotely true. And there is the little matter of six wars started and lost by the Arabs. As s I wrote in a previous post on this thread, there are consequences to waging wars of aggression and losing them all. That those consequences may not be pleasant does not it any way, shape or form render the ersatz "Palestinians" immune or exempt from them. Land loss and population transfers are part and parcel of wars, and always have been. Unless you think you can convince the Poles to restore East Prussia to Germany; the French to restore Alsace and Lorraine to Germany and Croatia to restore Istria to Italy, you have no right to require the State of Israel to restore one centimeter of land to the Arabs. Particularly the non-sovereign land. Go to war and lose, pay a heavy price. Got war six times and lose, pay an even heavier price. That's just how things work.

Fourth paragraph, second line -- should read "[twenty]-two states of their own." Apologies to all.

Well, you thought wrong. Didn't you? And I found the whole episode amusing. Amazing how people rant and rave when actions in which they have engaged for millennia are visited upon them. Don't know what you call it, but I call it hypocrisy. I don't waste time on hypocrites and their apologists. Now load your bemused self back up on the barstool and continue doing that which you do best.
47. #7 Conventions
(10.11.13)
I don't see that the conventions you mention are so well accepted. Rather the opposite seems to be true. On the world stage, your opinion is in a minority.
48. The line at which these acts of terror will stop is the...
Hermon Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (10.11.13)
....coast line of the Med. Sea in Israel. Read the PLO Charter - that despite commitments has not been amended to this day, 20 years after the commitments were made - and which clearly calls for Israel's demise; for the "cleansing" of the ancestral homeland of the Jewish people, including Jerusalem, of its Jews; and for the use of all means possible to advance these goals.

51. Lunatic @ 46
Avital ,   Israel/USA   (10.11.13)
Wrong. The Christians living in Israel today never hurt Jews, and the Jews living in Israel were never the victim of those people. You mistake legacy for personalities. A rather stupid mistake, but glaringly obvious to all but the perpetually embittered. You might have thought it to be amusing, the rest of the World, had it been witness to your ludicrous statement to the effect that you considered all non-Jews to be evil, would laugh in your face. You are too far gone to realize that you frequently make a fool out of yourself with these ''statements'', as more and more people are pointing out. Perhaps you should consider packing your trash, take husband (if any) and kids (if any, you can expect just about anything from you after your Sbarro hoax) move to Alaska, and spend the rest of your days trying to impress pissed-off polar bears with stories your glorious years of service in the Tzahal JAG- unit (yeah right), your fabulous wealth, houses in Manhattan, the Hamptons and Savyon, your fabulous billing rate, your personal driver, your surgeon-husband, your cohen father, your close contacts with the Israeli government, and all the other shameless and self promoting lies you have made a career of peppering your ludicrous rants with over the last couple of years. Now sodd off. You're the cretin here. Oh, should the doorbell be a-ringing anytime soon, don't open the door. The white-clad man isn't the milkman but rather someone who will take you to have a nice rest at Abarbanel in a safe environment were you pose no danger to yourself or others and where you can get help for that narcissistic personality disorder of yours (you are more or less a classic example, even if a bit on the extreme side of the spectrum).

This was a despicable murder. It cannot be justified no matter what the arguments are. Inevitably, it has drawn fire from the usual suspects in the same old futile manner, arguing for and against the 'legitimacy' of Israel. In this respect I am as puzzled as ever by your position. Is Israel's 'legitimacy' primarily based on ancient historical claims? Or is its 'legitimacy' primarily grounded in the consequences of contemporary wars? If it is the former then, much as you may not like it, these claims continue to be contested from many quarters. If it is the latter, then the claims may only hold until there are further wars in which Israel could conceivably be defeated and conquered. So, had Israel been defeated in 1967, then your latter argument - 'go to war and pay a heavy price' - would have been 'just how things work'. Of course, you may have faith in the divine deliverance of Israel, in which case Israel is eternal.

Those are clever words from a spoiled soul. Good luck with your revival. May Sariya Ofer rest in peace, my condolences to this wife and family. Monique, I'm very sorry for your loss. It's a mitzvah to take care of the widow, the blind, the poor. Ynetnews should post where we can send donations to Monique Omer.

You make an argument that doesn't hold any water. The first part is the so-called biblical ties that Jews have kept over the centuries, the second one is the supposed possibility of losing a war. For the record, Israel was created after the UN decision that Jews would settle in some parts of the ancient homeland (called Palestine by the Romans). If anywhere in the world, Jews should be settled in Judea, the origin of the word "Jew" (or as close as possible) not in Uganda, Argentina or Russia. After being attacked by the enemy, if you win the war, then there are certain consequences to consider like new safer borders, population transfers and so on as to avoid a repeat of said aggression. In other words, if Israel is threatened militarily again, the solution is not giving up territory but acquire new one so the incentive to attack again disappears. For obvious reasons I will not even contemplate the possibility of losing a major war as this will lead to wholesale slaughter of Jews, something I hope the world will not let happen...again. I hope that clears it for you.

Edud, This has nothing to do with "racial superority" and eveything to do with CULTURAL superiotity. You, like so many others, are confusing the two.

Instead of addressing my points, you pursued your own agenda. Leave aside all your froth about Judea and Jews and get down to business. In the wake of of the Balfour Declaration a state for the existing Jewish population was in the making after WWII. Following the Arab rejection of the UN partition plan, war ensued, Israel declared independence, and an armistice eventually came about resulting in the pre-1967 borders. The argument now, as it has always been, is how to achieve the best possible solution which will meet national aspirations of two communities. If both sides continue to talk about defeating the other then the conflict will, of course, continue.
