1. Can you imagine..
Ivan ,   South Africa   (10.13.13)
the tunnel network between southern Lebanon and Israel....
2. General Al Sisi-Minfadlak
Koose E Mack ,   NY USA   (10.13.13)
Where are you when we need you? You and the Egyptian Army are doing a much better job of putting these Terrorist Tunnels out of business. I vote for you for new PM of Israel.!!!!!
3. This act of war allows cut-off of ALL products entering Gaza
Dr. L. Brnd ,   San Diego, USA   (10.13.13)
No trade when war is ongoing. Nothing should go in or out of Gaza over the Israeli border until Hamas discloses the locations of ALL tunnels they have constructed, so they and the buildings on the Gaza side that housed the entrances can be destroyed under international supervision. Re-building and construction materials should be banned from entering Gaza, even those for "UN projects" - which apparently provided the Israeli-sourced cement. Hamas has violated the no-military-use precondition under which the cement was allowed in. Cut off ALL electricity and fuel to Gaza as well, until the war tunnels are all disclosed and destroyed. Fully permitted by international law. Misuse of humanitarian aid for military efforts mandates its cut-off under Geneva Conventions. Let Obama whine all he wants. No cooperation until he stops supporting the Hamas-Muslim Brotherhood groups in Egypt. Congress will side with Israel on this - fed up with Obama's idiotic policies promoting "democracy"; where's the "democracy" in Saudi Arabia that just got a record 80 billion in jet bombers from Obama. Or the democracy in the PA - Abbas lost the last election, just as Morsi's opposition did, yet gets billions from Obama.
4. Question
Ezer   (10.13.13)
Could we not build a huge ditch or canal running all along Gaza border and flood it with sea water? Would the weight of the water not collapse most of these tunnels?
5. Usefull Idiocy should be punished !.
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (10.13.13)
I Quote - "Hamas continues to become stronger and fortify, and has been cynically taking advantage of our good intentions when we let construction materials in the Strip for the private sector, for civilians." Comment - What kind of idiots is helping Hamas or believe in their good intentions ? Invade Gaza and Exterminate all Militants !. Arn.Sweden.
6. I doubt the facts!
Dov ben David ,   Eilat, Israel   (10.13.13)
According to the drawing, the length is 17 km. Impossible! The hight is only 1.8 meter. On the picture we see an Israeli soldier going in the tunnel with a good part of space over his head. Is it an Israeli midget soldier? If IDF want to be trustworthy, especially towards its own people, they have to do better!
7. Sad
American Hindu ,   USA   (10.13.13)
A pity they did not use the cement to build homes and schools. Is it possible that there are more such tunnels under construction. Is there no way to detect these?
8. Ditch #4?
Jake ,   Haifa Israel   (10.13.13)
Even if we could build a giant ditch heavy enough, the water will simply seep into the ground or evaporate eventually. And the border of Gaza is very long. And if we build a ditch, the world will call it a moat and say we are besieging them. And they can always dig deeper. Why not just stop exporting building material and electricity to Gaza. And I am sure there are technical means, using sensors, of detecting movement below ground.
9. 1.9 euros pally aid disappeared.
Jerome ,   Basalt, Colorado   (10.13.13)
i hope it is found in the tunnel and giving to Israels that have been terrorized by the gazian nazis
10. Only yourselve to blame
tiki ,   belgium   (10.13.13)
With providing those, who swore to eradicate you, with tons of foods & materials. Food to stay strong and building material to build passage into Israeli homes. I'm curious what spin Mr. UNWRA (Chris Gunness) & Mrs. EU (Palestine warrior) Ashton are going to provide this time. Stop the madness and stop delivering a lifeline to terrorists. Let them turn to Abdel Fattah el Sisi for help.
11. Imagine if they had the whole West Bank...!!!!!!!!!!
Yoni ,   Israel   (10.13.13)
I'm shocked it took the IDF 2 YEARS to figure this out. Where was the leadership? At their investments meetings?
12. Why Expose This?
Jake ,   Haifa Israel   (10.13.13)
Why not booby trap it and put cameras or listening devices in it so you can kill anyone while they are trying to use it? Or why not send Israeli forces all the way through to the other side and destroy the house it sits under? Why just expose it? Hopefully there is some reason beyond publicity.
13. Skills could be put to better use.
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (10.13.13)
Looking at the photos of this tunnel,it shouts at you that all these tunnelling skills, material and available labour could be used to build the sewers that the Gaza Strip badly needs. Odd priorities, but I suppose that the Gaza Strip is already a big sewer. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
14. blah, blah, blah
David ,   On this planet   (10.13.13)
Every one will pay the price, Gaza will look like a parking lot . Israelis are getting real good at talking yentas. send them more money , cement and Israeli products , don't forget to talk peace and release their terrorists after they graduate with honors from our jails.
15. hamas tunnel
Joseph Effiong ,   Calabar- Nigeria   (10.13.13)
I don't know if EU, UN and other anti-Israel are aware of this? May the Lord protect Zion, Jerusalem, the jews and entire Israel.
16. Here's what you do
steve from raleigh   (10.13.13)
March all the BDStads, the staff of the BBC, Guardian and NYT into the tunnels and seal up the end in Israel.
17. A solution
Joe ,   USA   (10.13.13)
They should dig a 30 meter trench along the border...or better yet...Implant explosive mines a meter apart and at varying depths all along the border. When you see a plume of dust you know you sent at least another one to reclaim his virgins.
18. Bibi listened to Blair too often!
Eliezer ,   Jerusalem   (10.13.13)
It was Blair who persuaded BIbi to allow building materials in to Gaza -so much for our PM's common sense!
19. Jake # 12 Yes ... why expose it ?
Arnold ,   Montreal-Canada   (10.13.13)
Monitor it and watch what comes out of it. Then arrest those who come out and use it as a PR tool.
20. could Hamas build the Eilat railway
zionist forever   (10.13.13)
Since Hamas are so good at tunnel digging perhaps we could hire them to dig a tunnel for trains on the planned Eilat train or the Tel Aviv light rail which is due to have at least 1 station underground. Put their tunnel building skills to good work, they could probably dig it much quicker than contractors and for much less. What this tunnel is proof of though is that we must not listen to the bleeding heart liberal left moaning about Israel not allowing palestinians essential materials like concrete to build homes. Hamas just leave the people without the homes and takes the concrete for the tunnels.
21. 7
zionist forever   (10.13.13)
If they need to build homes then instead of cash in hand and building materials then a specific project should be funded, materials brought in when needed and the building overseen by people from the donor countries to make sure the materials are not being diverted for tunnelling. Do have to admire them though they built a tunnel like that in about 2 years using hammer and chisel, It would have taken Israeli professional contractors with construction equipment longer than 2 years. Just a shame they don't use those skills to better use like building things to make life better for people.
22. I dont want to even imagine if they had the West Bank
Ally ,   TX , USA   (10.13.13)
It would be a total nightmare if the had the West Bank. They would not have opportunity on a extra ordinary scale to carry out their terrorist desires. Israel should make use of seismic technology to determine where these tunnel are being dug and not take 2 years to discover this.
23. Backfill the tunnel with pig manure.
ASTRONAUT ,   SC, USA   (10.14.13)
24. Another Solution
Noami ,   Tel Aviv   (10.14.13)
Is not to negotiate prisoners for soldiers, and instead try to get the soldiers back by military force.
25. it says 1.7, not 17
(10.14.13)
check the diagram again
26. #19
Alain ,   Sao Paulo Brazil   (10.14.13)
I like the idea. Booby trapit and let them fall directly into the net and then expose them and destroy the tunnel. What am I, a big strategist????
27. 1.7 km length
y ,   ny   (10.14.13)
Length is not 17 km But 1.7 km
28. maybe the soldier is crouching down
qwerty ,   israel   (10.14.13)
maybe the soldier is crouching down. maybe the entrance is taller the the rest of the tunnel. maybe that part is taller but the rest, as you see from the photos is quite short and narrow. since neither one of us was there, we cannot judge. But the IDF statements seem to add up to me.
29. Tunnel, everyone will pay the price,'
Benjamin ,   Bubbaland, NC   (10.14.13)
"Everyone will pay the price,' more Israeli bluster, and as is typical of Isarel no military action. Much like the prime minister's harping about Iran, Israel has unfortunately morphed into a barking dog with no bite.
30. But where is the weapons
Zaina Shehab ,   Kuwait   (10.14.13)
i only saw food where is the weapons and telorism ??????????????
