Zev ,   Israel   (10.18.13)
2. Mrs Merkel : Look at 16 miles of Archives
norbus ,   Jerusalem   (10.18.13)
6 Millions of us were exterminated by your predecessors, with Palestinians asking Hitler to do more : Husseini offered Hitler to have Arab Ovens to help out. These, the very same Palestinians who want to send us to the Ovens. So hard for you to ride two horses at the same time,
3. Yep keep that conflcit going
David ,   On this planet   (10.18.13)
and those Arab criminal leaders fat with billions in their account. Having a normal state will not be able to feed their hunger for money. Merkel wants to finish her ancestors job
4. Fools from Germany should keep Quite !.
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (10.18.13)
Germany has nothing to contribute to the Jewish People more than paying their guilts !. Arn.Sweden.
5. Restraint?
Max ,   Washington DC   (10.18.13)
German Chancellor Merkel might consider first showing restraint of EU Policy to label and boycott products manufactured in Judea and Samaria which is under discussion and negotiation. Unilateral boycott and meddling actions by the EU do more to hinder Peace than Building Homes.
6. Reunification of berlin
2Mad ,   גולה בצרפת   (10.18.13)
was the worst threat to peace ever. It unleashed present "drang nach osten" that plunged Balkans in chaos - while enabling german's barely-undercover allies to spoil and plunder. Don't worry, it will not last forever.
7. What Does Merkel Knnow ABout Restraint?
emanon ,   USA   (10.18.13)
8. #2 and #3
Darren Ben John ,   Townsville Australia   (10.18.13)
Mrs Merkel is not doing anything wrong.
9. #2 - not a good talking point any more
spyguy ,   seattle   (10.18.13)
Over 80% of the people in Germany were not alive during WW2 and they just do not care one bit about the holocaust and have zero guilt about it. In fact they get angry when you throw it at them. Your talking point is no longer valid to most of the people now on this earth no matter how "important" you think it is. You need to re-think your talking points because the ones you are using do not work any more.
10. Building doesn't harm peace when there is no peace to be had
Sam ,   Canada   (10.18.13)
Tell us Ms. Merkel since you are in contact with Abbas, what must be done for Palestinians to accept a Jewish majority Israel for the long term? Rather than lecturing the Jews and Israel give everyone the information.
11. Merkel under leftist pressure
Tom W ,   USA   (10.18.13)
Merkel currently in negotiation with the Socialists to form a "grand" coalition. Facts are facts: wherever the left is part of the governing body, rabid anti-Israeli actions will ensue. Same like Cameron's "conservatives": the leftist Liberal Democrats in the gov.ment provide the antisemitic fuel to the Tories.
12. #2 Grossly inflated figure
(10.18.13)
13. As usual ...
Jacob Edelman ,   New York,USA   (10.18.13)
No sooner than some one says something that goes counter to the current Israeli policies, he/she becomes an enemy , as usual !!! Israelis see themselves constantly at odds with the world. When will this stop? Or is this related to a deeper complex ? A self confident nation and citizenry does not see problems everywhere, rather than an opportunity to find creative solutions to live in peace.
14. 9. #2 - not a good talking point any more
norbus ,   Jerusalem   (10.18.13)
You are so wrong; History repeats itself, facts do not change. Obama does talking points. Arabs still want us all dead; We watch : Never again
15. Did she ask for the.2 billions euros fate?
trump   (10.18.13)
Apparently, this eu money disappeared somewhere in Judea Samaria.
16. @7 Emanon - Well, she's only been...
Gunnar ,   Gothenburg, Sweden   (10.18.13)
...prime minister of Germany (Europe's ONLY economic success story in recent times) for the last 8 years, has a Ph.D. in physics, grew up in East Germany (thus knowing what she talks about on the topic of political oppression), has been named the World's most powerful woman un numerous occasions etc. etc. She probably knows enough about restraint. Question is: What do YOU know about restraint?
17. Merkel Jerusalem is Israel
Dani ,   Amsterdam   (10.18.13)
We do not have to care about what the world idiots are saying. We do not have to ask authorization to build houses for our citizens we are a free nation with right of defence and build anywhere we like it and that’s it. Beside that we do not like the 20% of old Germans that are still alive and we do not care about their sentiments
18. Corruption of the Balfour remains greatest W.W.2 crime.
BUTSeriously ,   Sydney   (10.18.13)
It is proven by the serial multi-2-state demands made on Israel and the transfer of the name Palestinians from Jews to Muslims. Europe is up to her old tricks again.
19. to no 9
Jennie ,   Israel/US   (10.18.13)
Reading such manour & demonstration of paranoia, so typical to loosers... Like it or not, sooner or later, we all get what we deserve, one way or the other...
20. Yes we know
tiki ,   belgium   (10.18.13)
Not the terror, not the lying, not the corruption, no, the 'settlements are the obstacle to peace! Mrs. Merkel, change your tune! "We know what the Europeans want. The same what they've wanted for centuries. It ain't gonna happen! If you want to throw more good money after bad, that's your choice but..... The ONLY people with historic rights to the ancient Jewish lands are the Jews! No Palestinians, Schmalestinians and certainly not the Germans or any other European country with gallons of Jewish blood on their hands will change that fact!
21. Building risks? I think terror attacks risk...
Jewish Patriot ,   Galut   (10.18.13)
Just look the Palestinian terrorist with the tractor... no comment from a German swine in safe Europe...
22. Building in settlement blocks is ok
The same lie again   (10.18.13)
The Arabs and the Europeans can return on this lie as much as they want, it won't make it true. As long as almost all of the Jews in Judea and Samaria are living in settlement block that will remain part of Israel in any future deal, there is no risk to the two state solution.
23. Bibi Must Decide
Bill Stein ,   USA   (10.18.13)
Prime Minister must decide if he is to be remembered as the Prime Minister supporting a policy of Judenräte one-way appeasement, being a Neville Chamberlain, being a traitor, selling out his people and his own country for a legacy or worse, or a great leader who fighting for his country and his people.
24. 'Israeli building risks peace'
(10.18.13)
Is diplomatic blabla. What's wrong with this statement? Is there anybody, political left or right, who thinks that building settlements, whether it is right or wrong, will promote peace? Merkel has the same position as the US government has and always had, and the same as the majority of the Jews; worldwide, not on this forum.
25. #24 Absence of building doesn't promote peace.
Sam ,   Canada   (10.18.13)
Israel has already tried that, done that (settlement freeze). It achieved nothing because all the Palestinians want is to freeze the Jews out, not make peace. They tried to freeze the Jews from coming to Israel too. That doesn't mean none of them want peace. About 30% of them agree to live next to a Jewish majority Israel. The West Bank has great religious and historical importance for many Jews and they are not going to hold off building for Palestinians who show no signs of peace.
26. Don't kill the messenger
On the Balcony ,   Akko/NY/Kyiv   (10.18.13)
Whether we accept or reject it, Merkel's commitment to a two state solution (Israel and Palestine) is shared by a great many Israelis, Diaspora Jews and the overwhelming majority of the world's governments since 1967. We will just have to wait and see what the negotiations yield.
27. to #24
Eyal ,   Israel   (10.18.13)
Whether you are for or against settlement construction, this statement is anything but diplomatic. Maybe if Mrs. Merkel had the decency to point out that the recent terror attacks by palestinians were also an obstacle to peace, then this statement could have qualified for "diplomatic".
28. Merkel can afford these vapid statements, we cannot!
tom ,   tel aviv   (10.18.13)
29. 4 Fool! Germany paid Israel $$$blns for 5Y reparations
lydia ,   Brisbane   (10.19.13)
Wait until Israel has to pay the Palestinians reparation for 65+Y of illegal land theft and mass murders. Every uprooted trees, every house bulldozed, every crop fouled, every well poisoned.
30. #25 #27
(10.19.13)
I agree that the core problem is that, although not all, but too many Palestinians, and Arabs in general, reject Israel's right to exist - no matter what; and that this has nothing to do with Israel's daily politics, e.g. building settlements. Nevertheless, that does not mean, that building more settlements doesn't complicate an already complicated situation even more; unless you come to the conclusion, that there is no peaceful political solution (because of what I mentioned above), but this is a position that, in my opinion, a high ranking politician cannot and should not adopt; because what's the alternative?
