1. So run scared is the answer?
Rachel ,   US   (11.04.13)
2. The most serious threat to Israel's survival
Stan ,   Israel   (11.04.13)
Amidror was a very nationalistic Right Wing general. It seems that he now understands what I have been saying for years, that a progressively worsening boycott of Israel is something that we have to avoid by negotiating a peace agreement with the Pals.
3. Amidror statement
Harold ,   USA   (11.04.13)
The outgoing National Security Adviser is right. He knows very well that the EU has prepared a list of sanctions against Israel if peace talks with Palestinians collapse and the existing boycotts will expand and probably stop trading with Israel. The EU wants this 45 years old conflict resolved as soon as possible.
4. #3: We in Israel
Israeli 2   (11.04.13)
do not give a damn what the EU or anyone else wants. We do as commanded by our G-d. All the land given to us is ours. Babble as much as you want, Harold, but we also do not run scared. We have passed the tests of milleniums. We will build more very soon.
5. Utter Defeatism
norbus ,   Jerusalem   (11.04.13)
Standing up for what is right is the only way. Tell Erkat, Livni, Kerry Never Again Boycott is better than slaughter in a second Holocaust. Funny how the old farts go on the record to warn. This idiot from Noah's ark told diplomats & ambassadors to do as they are told
6. #3 yes, Europe always wanted solve the Jewish problem
Ed ,   Canada   (11.04.13)
They completed half of their work in 1930s and 1940s. Europe should be ashamed and shut up for about 1000 years now!!
7. He is spot on.
Milk D ,   East Coast/USA   (11.04.13)
Negotiations have went on long enough and the world is now fully aware of the endless stalling tactics by Israel. We are not gonna keep waiting for Israel to negotiate in good faith. And to all the talkbackers that ask what will we do if Israel doesn't do as the world community has NOT asked of it, STRAIGHT UP demanded of it....You do not want to know. NO more asking.
8. boycotts
lee ,   atlanta   (11.04.13)
your foolish the EU is on its last breath we don't need them America , asia, and Africa are much better markets
9. #2 Stan
Michael ,   Haifa   (11.04.13)
I, too, have been saying the same as you for years . If somebody important, from the Right wing, is showing a glimmering of understanding as to the consequences of the Occupation, then there may be some reason for hope
10. #2 Stan. More despicable fear mongering.
Chaim ,   Israel   (11.04.13)
There is no rational reason for Israel to offer "Palestinian" poseurs any part of our sole tiny Homeland. So you're trying to scare Israel into doing something completely against Israel's vital interests. You try to scare Israel into ceding Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria and becoming a 9 mile wide concentration camp to appease our foes. Not only are you totally irrational but also despicable and pathetic.
11. Obama's power
CJK   (11.04.13)
if obama loses power, it will be a direct consequence of his failed policies in the muslim world. in particular, the saudis will not accept a nuclear capable iran.
12. Time is running out
Harri ,   EU   (11.04.13)
Listen to your security adviser. He is smart enough to understand the reality where Israel is heading. Most of the politicians cant see beyond the next elections.
13. It seems Israel is universally
Barney ,   USA   (11.04.13)
And unfairly targeted. Everyone is concerned about the Arabs having another country but Israel's security is not an issue to anyone but Israel. Arabs in Israel but no Jews welcome in "Palestine" or any Muslim country for that matter. I don't believe running scared is the answer. Strength is the answer. Nobody will have Israel's back when the time comes.
14. # 3
Jules   (11.04.13)
Don't be delusional: its a conflict in which one party (the Arabs) want another party dead. No other "solution" will be satisfactory to the Islamic fanatics. Any assistance from the EU provided to the Pals is just a continuation of the extermination of the Jewish people, this time by "diplomatic" means. Regarding the BDS, etc.: "Difficulties and hardships that don't kill you just make you stronger" (c) The situation in 1967 and 1973 was much worse; still, Israel had won. So it will be this time.
15. Basic Scenario
Zechariah   (11.04.13)
The basic scenario ought be to give a lot of Judae and Samaria to Islam because the messianic age has not arrived. So Jews are not obligated .Ask the Charedim the Litvaks .Keep the settlements for a land swap with Islamic Israel equal in area .Thats the easier part.A strong Israeli military presence in the Jordan Valley with USA NATO Beduoin Jordanian and even Palestinian Authority officers to protect Jew Arab and International in the Holy Land against a common and Fanatical enemy is plausible .Jerusalem and the refugees plus Verification of a Demilitirized Palestinian State are Harder issues that will required Degrees of Internationalization.
16. There's nothing we can do about it
Salim ,   Canada   (11.04.13)
Stan and Harold, please take off your blinders and see European anti-semitism for what it is. There is nothing Israel can do to satisfy them, other than commit national suicide
17. blackmail and orders to boycott
CJK   (11.04.13)
europe has been blackmailed for decades by the arab league, especially the saudis, to do their bidding in all respects. the saudis have threatened to withhold information regarding terrorists if europe refused to sell them weapons. they have been also attempting to blackmail europe with regard to the israel arab conflict. the idea of boycotts goes back all the way to the oil boycott of 1973. the leftists and anarchists of today, led by chomsky, have cooked up the plan to boycott israel directly by european countries.. obama has ordered the europeans to engage in the boycott movement against israel as a means of pressuring her in the so-called peace talks with the arab palestinians. israel must make it clear to those that threaten to boycott her that such moves will lead to unpredictable consequences, including bloody wars. once those wars start, they will be difficult to stop.
18. Israel & Iran
CJK   (11.04.13)
israel cannot live with a nuclear capable iran. israel, as a peace loving nation, prefers to solve the iran nuclear weapons issue diplomatically. however, Israel cannot accept a us-iran deal that would cross her red lines. for israel, a nuclear iran is an existential threat.
19. That's Rich
Doodie ,   Canada   (11.04.13)
Eurotrash preaching to the Jews on morality? Economic boycott of the Jews? I've seen this movie before. Now they want the want the Judean hills crammed with missiles aimed at the heart of Israeli population centers in the plains below. The final piece of the Final Solution is within their grasp while they sip wine and whisper sweet "apartheids" in each other ears.
20. A bigger threat.
michael Pielet ,   israel   (11.04.13)
Establishment of an iranian based terrorist state in Judea and Samaria is a far worse alternative and a bigger threat.
21. Israel must stand up to mobster threats.
Chaim ,   Israel   (11.04.13)
Any time Israel is pressured to do something, two things are obvious. 1. The thing Israel is pressured to do is VERY bad for Israel. If it was good, Israel would do it voluntarily. 2. Those who make the threats KNOW it is VERY bad for Israel. That is why they make the threats. Threats are the tactics of criminals and mobsters. Israel must do what is right and stand up to the despicable threats. Israel is strong. Israel was not reborn after 2,000 years to surrender to evil threats.
22. All those who celebrated the murder of
J.K. ,   Brooklyn USA   (11.04.13)
Rabin, and the derailment of oslo, what is their reaction ?.
23. Rose-tinted glasses, Amidror
Hunt S Cross ,   England   (11.04.13)
Implicit in his view is the belief that the Palestinians are willing to negotiate at all in the sense of being willing to compromise on their key demands. He is right, though, about time getting shorter. Unless the Palestinians compromise, Israel should start setting the pace both in the media and on the ground. A few thousand homes act as an irritant, not as a game-changer.
24. The Holy One of Israel
Simantov ,   Israel   (11.04.13)
All of this malarkey as to how can or will Israel survive, is spoken by people that need a history lesson. The place to begin is to remember who created Israel, it wasn't Netanyahu and his new world order friends. It was the creator of the universe, and as the world is about to discover. He knows how to keep His nation. Not everyone with an Israeli ID is an true Israeli, the future will make that very clear.
25. Harold
EJL ,   UK   (11.04.13)
45 years? Are you sure about that?
26. Well... if you bomb Syrians a bit more "schmoicott"
Miron ,   USA   (11.04.13)
will be your least worry. These "phylosophers" rob Israel of peace she fought for so hard.
27. "Talks" failure will lead to Obama UNSC '67 borders, ICC
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (11.04.13)
...and NATO security in West Bank.
28. Another security chief looking to win media over
Ed Ford ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (11.04.13)
It's a right of passage that all outgoing security people adopt left wing views. This is required to curry favor with the media for their future political careers.
29. boycotts
lee ,   atlanta   (11.04.13)
who cares Europe is poor and weak asia and afrcia are where the real money is at.
30. Nonsense.Peace to Pals means Israel hands over country
Sam ,   Canada   (11.04.13)
This idea that Israel has a choice in negotiating a peace treaty is baloney. Peace to the Palestinians means Israel hands over the country to them. So, Israeli leaders telling Israelis that they MUST negotiate a peace deal is stupidity. When Palestinians really want a peace deal they will tell us. Israel has to move on as best it can.
