After WWI they lost 2/3 of its territory, including important cities, some of its best industrial areas, mines, farmlands, infrastructure, railroads, etc. These border shifts also meant a loss of people: about 60% of its population to neighbouring countries where many face discrimination. Today puny Hungary is one of the poorest countries in Europe. On a human level, Hungarians are among the most unstable and unhealthiest in Europe, with very high rates of obesity, alcoholism, smoking, depression, abortions and suicide. Infant mortality is high and reproduction is low - less than one baby per family, while the Roma minority, already 10% of the population, procreate at more than twice the national average. More and more Hungarians are emigrating or plan to, mostly to the UK and Germany. If these demographic trends don't change Hungary as it exists today will die and the Roma will live on its ruins. Some think fascist Jobbik will save Hungary but should they gain power the country would surely face isolation, sanctions and boycotts from the U.S., E.U., China, perhaps Russia and others. In today's global economy Hungary's already fragile economy wouldn't stand a chance and would totally collapse resulting in widespread poverty and starvation. No matter how you look at it, Hungary's future is bleak. Jews get out of there.
