Yes when BHO leaves office, the relationship can be restored. However this administration has shown us that we need to increase our options by increasing our strategic partners.

America is in the process of attaining a permanent Democratic majority, that will hate Jewish Israel much the same as the EU now does. Obama/Kerry is merely the first step. It is unclear if Obama's successor (either Democrat or less likely Republican) will hate Jewish Israel quite as much. But the writing is certainly on the wall. Netanyahu and Lieberman know this. The strategy is to play along with America as long as possible, while looking for an alternate sponsor (China or Russia).

Others may do X amount of business with Israel, but no country on the planet will ever align itself in a political or military setting with Israel. Taboo. The US role simply can't be replicated or replaced. We're it. Lieberman knows the bottom line.

There's no such country. Israel is no Jewish country. More than 20% of Israelis aren't Jewish Israel belongs to Israelis. Period

As Cameron notes in #5, there is no other nation on earth that can replace the US on Israel's sucker list. I have done business in China for 20 years and I am well acquainted with the Chinese culture, therefore, I can guarantee that China will NEVER align with Israel. As for Russia, I suspect that it would also just exploit Israel until they bled Israel dry, then throw it away. Once the US gets tired of being screwed by Israel, Israel will be completely isolated with no powerful patron and a country with less than 0.01% of the humans on earth and with a miniscule economy will be powerless. While Lieberman has many flaws, he understands well Israel's real status.
