2. impeccable record? several druze officers spied for Hezbolla
(11.29.13)
3. i am an israeli jew and I CANNOT ENTER TO Dimona ! so what ?
(11.29.13)
The security is ABOVE ALL !
4. Very misleading article
Reuven ,   Petach Tikvah   (11.29.13)
The headline gives the impression that the Druze soldiers were banned from entering the Dimona facility - full stop. This was not the case, the nature of the Dimona facility makes it imperative that any person - Jew or Druze - have the correct security clearance before entering such a place. After checking the Druze soldiers were allowed in. It really is a non-story and creates unnecessary tension between Jewish and Druze Israeli citizens.
5. Sadly
Michael ,   Haifa   (11.29.13)
The more I read the news, the realization grows that Israel is becoming more and more racist. We are not even a "light unto ourselves"
6. Racists will always be racists
(11.29.13)
Israel is in serious troubles
7. WHY TAKE IT PERSONALLY ?
TEL EM STRAIGHT ,   SAFED OBVIOUS HOUSE   (11.29.13)
These druze soldiers need not be upset nor offended. Dimona Nuclear Centre is an equal opportunity off- limits place .OFF LIMITS TO ALL .
8. NOT NICE BUT UNDERSTANDABLE
TEL EM STRAIGHT ,   SAFED OBVIOUS HOUSE   (11.29.13)
Security at Dimona have to be suspicious of everybody .
9. So difficult !
Tzimmes ,   Tel Aviv   (11.29.13)
This is a trade off ,the security of the State is paramount ,Dimona is such a contentious site no risks can be taken for the sake of protecting the feelings of anyone. Not that all Jews are 100% trustworthy . Vanunu e.g.. The Druze have been in the main loyal and trustworthy citizens, however they will be put under pressure from other Druze groups living in neighboring countries. This applies to serving Arabs also. Jewish soldiers do not have the same pull on them. This is a difficult dilemma as we do not want to offend or call loyalty into question but State security must take precedence.
10. Questions
A Jerusalemite ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (11.29.13)
1. Why is the security of the Nuclear Research Center run by a civilian organization in the first place? 2. Where was the commanding officer of the "bus full of air force soldiers"? Why didn't he refuse to let **any** of the group enter if not **all** of them could? 3. Who is this civilian security manager that he is unfamiliar with the contribution made by the Druze community to the security of the State?
11. #3 EXACTLY
CAPTAIN OBVIOUS ,   SAFED OBVIOUS HOUSE   (11.29.13)
Even jews like you and I are forbidden to enter Dimona facility.
12. I Would Have Remained Outside With The Druze Soldiers
Yishai Kohen ,   YeShA, Israel   (11.29.13)
And I'm one of those "racist religious settlers". I'm sure all of my neighbors would do the same.
13. #4, you are wrong!
Dov ben David ,   Eilat, Israel   (11.29.13)
Even if they were let in after a while, it shoes a clear discrimination of the Druze. I had the honour to serve with them, and they are outstanding soldiers.... What the article at best shows, is that Israeli intelligence doesn't have a clue of what they are doing"
14. agree totally with authorities
geroge   (11.29.13)
yossi, there are certain red lines. Blood is thicker than water. Don't be an idealistic shmuck like seidemann. One of israel's worst politicians ever was ehud olmert, a weak cowardly bs artist. However one thing he did was instructive. He sat with abbas for hundreds of hours, he put up the flag of palestine in his house, he wined and dined, he offered concessions that only chamberlain could offer, he sympathized with the nakba, he railed and beat jews in settlements, he bad mouthed half of israel and now he tells tall tales in the US telling his audiences that the hezbollah war was the greatest victory in israel's history despite what israelis and winograd know about olmert, he is a total failure. Olmert babysat and coddled and educated abbas to peace and still it was not enough. So that tells you the story. The arabs want israel out of the middle east. and if you beleive in their kind of peace which may still involve violence, then you have to move out of israel period to a new land and turn it over to the arabs. In the meantime, there are certain offlimits and that is the reality.
15. Remember Vaanunu?
Ivo ,   Israel   (11.29.13)
He was not a Druze. I'm sorry, this is pure racism by some stupid individual who abused his authority. An Israeli soldier is at the responsibility of the state regardless of religion, race or colour. The security civil company has a contract with the state, the state should come up clean on this, and not offer excuses. SHAMEFUL !!!
16. #13
Reuven ,   Petach Tikvah   (11.29.13)
Rubbish. I also had a Druze officer for much of my time in the IDF. He was first class. Don't knock the intelligence community without knowing all the facts - you don't know, and I don't know, all the facts. What I do know is that Dimona is not a usual IDF facillity. Nobody is questioning if the Druze soldiers were outstanding or not, its not relevant - and its certainly not discrimination..
17. #14 - Ignorant!
Eric ,   Toronto   (11.29.13)
Druze are not Arabs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
18. In an ideal world..
Scott ,   Ramat Gan, Israel   (11.29.13)
there would be no discrimination. But we have to live in the real world. In the real world, most Druze who live in the Golan want it to be returned to Syria (maybe not at this moment). There maybe many factors why some join the IDF. Some may do it out of loyalty to the state, others may have ulterior motives.
19. Injustice
Dina S. ,   Montreal, Canada   (11.29.13)
If these Druze soldiers were good enough to make it into chayl avir, and were considered good enough by their superiors to participate in this exercise then there should have been no reason for them to be excluded. What their fellow soldiers should have done in solidarity was to stay out as well. This was obviously about one person making a stupid decision, just because he could.
20. Druze soldiers
Yoel ,   Mizpe Ramon   (11.29.13)
First of all, the commanding officer should have been loyal: Either we all can enter or we all retreat. Second he should have consulted as high up as possible about this disgraceful treatment of his company Third the civilian security company has no right to separate an army unit, and should be instructed not to interfere in intern army affairs. I expect Chief of Staff Benny Ganz to respond publicly on this outragious behaviour to his army.
21. Truth serum
Marian ,   Romania   (11.29.13)
I thinck that in a country with suchh a high level of risk and danger like Israel (the highest in the world), all soldiers and persons to be hired in sensitive jobs should be first tested with truth serum, regardles theur etnicity.
22. I say they should not be allowed in Israel, period...
Avi ,   Tel Aviv   (11.30.13)
23. There is no such thing as Druze in Israel...
Avi ,   Israel   (12.01.13)
There are Jews and no one else...
