6. Leftist governments never made peace with the Palestinians
Sam ,   Canada   (12.04.13)
Neither the Left nor the Right has been able to make peace with the Palestinians. Those Israeli leaders who call for a freeze are desperate fools who buy into Palestinian propaganda that ensnares the suckers. Palestinians only want a freeze to keep the Jews out not because it harms the 2 state solution. Peace will come if and when the Palestinians want it and agree to a plan acceptable to Israelis. Time for Israeli leaders to stop being so susceptible to Palestinian con artists.

His guilt ridden past seems to be catching up to him. The guy needs to be muzzled.
9. huh?
Birdi ,   Israel   (12.04.13)
Since when to the Palestinians have a ''past?'' He wants Palestinians to have hope etc, fine, start off by requiring every single 1 of them recognize the State of Israel as the homeland for the Jewish people. Each & every one of our ''beloved brothers & sisters need to swear alligance to the State of Israel & finally they have to renounce all forms of terror & hand in ALL weapons. This will happen when pigs will fly!
10. Ex-Shin Bet ass
Sam Tayar ,   montreal   (12.04.13)
"Palestinian society has no future, it only has a past." In reality: Palestinian society has no future AND has (never had) a past".
11. #5 The logical alternative
Michael ,   Haifa   (12.05.13)
1) Borders based on 1967 lines with territory swaps enabling Israeli to keep major blocs. Removal of settlers beyond the agreed upon borders 2) A demilitarized Palestinian State 3) Mutually agreed arrangements for the governance of Jerusalem 4)Palestinian agreement to abandon the "right of return" of refugees to Israeli sovereign territory
12. Say What?!
manicdrummer ,   Haifa, Israel   (12.04.13)
Building housing for Jews in what is rightfully Jewish land is NOT an obstacle to peace. The West Bank and Gaza are already part of Israel and Israel can take back that land any time they want to. Let the Arab countries take in the Palestinians if they care so much.
13. Its scary that he was a Shin Bet chief
Judah ,   Golan Heights, Israe   (12.05.13)
Iran can detroy Israel with one or two nuclear bombs. Does this fool not realize that.
14. #11 The logical alternative
mark schroeder ,   germany   (12.05.13)
1) Borders based on 1967 lines with NO territory swaps enabling Israel to dismantle major blocs. Removal of all settlers beyond 1967 borders. 2) A Palestinian State that is demilitarized only if Israel is demilitarized too. 3) A divided Jerusalem. 4)Palestinian right of return is SACRED...
15. he is right!!!
sharon ,   israel   (12.05.13)
All the geniuses writing here are laying the foundation for the end of the Jewish State. We will have the Land of Israel but no State of Israel. Then we can blend in the with the mass Arab majority surrounding us and once again become a minority. Keep up the good work - too bad none of you can see further than your chest beating and boasting.
16. #5 he suggests that we pursue peace
On the Balcony   (12.05.13)
with the State of Palestine instead of playing games.
17. Diskin is exactly correct. Period.

18. this is how the game is played, boys and girls
tom ,   toronto, canada   (12.05.13)
diskin is the EX head of the mossad, and is now engaged in what he thinks is politics (and what others might consider treason). as a political neophyte, he thinks he needs to make a big splash, to attract lots of attention, particularly from the headless (and mostly brainless) left. what he lacks is any political experience (or talent), to sense that the vast majority of israelis have seen the light, and will not follow the left into another oslo, or even another gaza-style disengagement. he's just making a play for his turn as king of the hill, without realizing that his "shooting from the lip" could come back to haunt him later in his career, if he manages to have one.
19. Yuval Diskin
Harold ,   USA   (12.05.13)
Why Netuanyahu is not listening to all retired Israeli sucurity experts. Does he thinks he is Jack of all Trades or he is spending most of his time reading his father's extreme Zionist books.
20. YOU SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER, MR DISKIN !
FO ,   Belgium   (12.05.13)
You warned, Mr. Diskin: "The most dangerous thing for the Palestinian society is that it has no future, it only has a past". You should have known better. In 1695, a scholar, geographer, cartographer and well know philologist, called Relandi, was sent on a sightseeing tour to "Palestina". He mapped the land and arranged a population survey and census of each community. Result? Most of the inhabitants were Jews, and the rest Christians. There were few Muslims, mostly nomad Bedouins. After the passage of Napoleon, the Turks, afraid of Christians settling mainly in Jerusalem, decided to reinforce the Muslim presence in the country, by promising a tax exemption of 12 years. So, Muslims arrived from Morocco, Caucasus and Bosnia. And hundreds of thousands Muslims arrived from neighboring countries to find work thanks to Jewish immigration, since 1885. Today, the heirs of those people are claiming a "Palestinian heritage" or a “Palestinian Nation", pretending that their ancestors lived in the country for thousands of years. This is what you call, Mr. Diskin, the past of the "Palestinian society"?
21. The talkbacks are revealing
Daniel   (12.05.13)
One of the highest place Israeli security officers, with a lifelong career dedicated to keeping Israel safe and with unparalleled insight, talks about Israel's security. In response, he is mocked by a bunch of talkbackers in the US and Canada, people who probably never even set foot in Israel and know nothing about the country. The comments here show very well that talkbackers do not know and do not care about Israel.
22. Diskin is right
Harri ,   EU   (12.05.13)
If Iran had nuclear weapons, they might bomb Israel, If there would be war between Israel and Iran. There is many "if"s. But if Palestinians don't have their own state, they will 100% sure be citizens of Israel in the near future. That will end Israel as a Jewish state. This round of negotiations is the last one. If Obama and Kerry don't succeed, nobody ever will even try anymore, and South African way is the only possible way out of this quagmire. In fact, everyone is already waiting for the negotiations to fail and the other option to start.
23. J.E.R.K

24. Lack of peace is what empowered Iran
Dan   (12.05.13)
The only justification Iran has for its aggressive attitude to Israel is that of 'resistance' and 'solidarity' with palestinians. The failure to make peace, which is to say Bibi's preference for settlements over peace, is what has given Iran the ability to adopt its threatening posture. If peace had been made they would simply have been seen as the racist aggressors they are. It's not too late: make peace and Iran is undermined internationally.
25. #11 PEACE
Rau   (12.05.13)
Thanks for believing in peace. But Palestenian has the right to ROR as well as the jews.

29. #11
Gene   (12.05.13)
"Palestinian agreement to abandon the "right of return" of refugees to Israeli sovereign territory" But they don't agree!!! " A demilitarized Palestinian State" How do you suppose to implement this? " Removal of settlers beyond the agreed upon borders" Ethnic cleansing? Do you plan to do the same thing with Arabs or just with Jews?
30. #11BS. NONE of your 4 points acceptable to anyone.
