If not Tzahal, then national service. If neither, then total cuts in government benefits and/or deportation. No ABC kits either; not for them and not for their families.

Devorah   (12.10.13)
And keeping Torah includes fighting to the death for Israel.
33. Serve hashem, join the IDF
michael Pielet ,   israel   (12.10.13)
Please stop the hatred! My religious children served. My religious grandchildren will serve. It is a sacred religious duty to sanctify Hashem's name and protect the nation. We can only sanctify Hashem's name if we are alive. Therefore, serve G-d and serve in the IDF with honor.
34. #30 Flawed logic (flawed grammar)
Ehud   (12.10.13)
If the army does not need so many recruits - which only Haredi apologetics claim - why should those exempted come only from one sector, why shouldn't my sons be exempted too? Are their lives of a lesser value? If there is a general draft there needs to be a very good reason to exempt a small minority of candidates by a reasonable criterion which does not cause massive discrimination. Being Haredi or blond with blue eyes cannot be such a criterion. Maybe you should consider that those 'Israelis' who, according to your impression, cannot see where they go wrong, may simply disagree with your opinion (or do you think that cannot be the case, since you are always right?). Besides, don't you think you should be more careful with advice the consequences of which don't affect you at all? A little humility, please!
35. I really am at a loss
Tim ,   Brighton   (12.10.13)
To find ANYTHING in the Torah that forbids Army Service So are they making up and MISINTERPRETING the Torah to serve their own narrow and selfish interests? In fact didn't one Rabbi recently interviewed on TV in the UK about this issue admit that his overriding concern was 'loss of revenue' for his Yeshiva? There appears to be no theological, moral, strategic or economic reason why the Haredi Community cannot make their full contribution to Society and undertake National Service
36. One nation one Draft
Haim ,   TA   (12.10.13)
if they dont like it , then they are free to leave the country. Although im not sure they will find a country that allows them to live off benefits for the rest of their lives, milking the system dry while contributing nothing and living above the law of which every citizen is bound to uphold. Maybe they should try Afghanistan where im sure they will fit in nicely.

alot of you whine why do i have to send my son into fire... 1 you don't! Send him to learn torah and he'll recieve a ptur, you're choice to remain in the anti-God camp so you get the package. You ask what will be with army? Let it be run by religous inclined people and we could all join and live the correct life. You're gonna say never let them take over army also... Your lifestyle choice. Think about it.
38. As long as we'll suffer from "Respect for religion" we'll
tom ,   tel aviv   (12.10.13)
have this and worse. Obviously they're entitled to protest, like everyone else. What they should not be entitled to are any "special" entitlements.
39. Who said the Chareidim rioted.
Rabbi ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (12.10.13)
Your first sentence states: "Some 1,400 haredi protesters riot". First of all why do you insult me by generaizing the Eida Chareidis as Hareidim. The Eida Chareidis is an extremist group known for it's anti-zionist stand. Secondly, 1400 people didn't riot. If you look at the video you posted, it was very calm for the most part, a lot of singing and chanting, but no rioting. Neturei Karta also took part in the protest and if they were a bit physical, that's normal. Thank you Ynet for yellow journalism. I'm still waiting for an apology from you for muddying my good name as a law abiding Chareidi. Shame on you for bigotry.
40. 29 Ora. Of course Haredim don't kill...
robert ,   antwerp belgium   (12.10.13)
but they dissociate from the protection of the Jewish people . Studying Tora helps protecting the Jewish people. Those who are gifted Tora students should be allowed to avoid army duty, but the others, should not be allowed to argue: "Am I my brothers's protector, I'm studying Tora" while spending time on other things.
41. 40 Robert, on this i agree with you
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (12.10.13)
Those who are spending time on other things have no reason to not joining the IDF
