1. 100 Airplanes, just the fuel...
AR<>Ashkelon ,   ISR.   (12.10.13)
...each consuming on average 30000 liters of jet fuel (gasoline) for this round trip to South Africa: 100x30,000=3,000,000 liter. The price of 1liter gasoline is ~2US$. Therefore, the price of fuel ALONE is around: 6,000,000US$. Mandela was a great man and his legacy should be spread by modern, electronic means while the money that could have been spared should go to directly supporting people in need. I am sure that the first to approve it would have been him. The death of a person is always sad, but this gathering looks more as a festival of people who want to say: "... look I was there"... what a sad waste; and don't tell that not everything is money - yes, true, burnt fuel has also to do with the environment.

3. A bow and a handshake for Raoul.
Gideon Reader   (12.10.13)
Never failing to kow tow to a despot, wannabe despot in training ZerObama bows and shakes the hand of Cuban commie despot Raoul Castro. An avowed enemy of the USA does not seem to deter or faze Barry Soetoro. A tyrant's credentials are a feature for his affection, not a bug. If it did not look bad, Zero would have given El Presidente a big, wet tongue kiss.
4. Mandela funeral
yankel ,   kfar saba israel   (12.10.13)
Despite all the negative comments from the other talkbacks Nelson Mandela was still a great man without whose guiding hand South Africa would have been a total mess. Kol Hakavod to Chief Rabbi Goldstein forhis eulogy

Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (12.10.13)
