(12.12.13)
ETHIOPIA!
2. Lapid, inciting with misleading false propaganda ;
Norbus ,   Jerusalem   (12.12.13)
HIV, CJD Jacob, Hormone S, Many other purely medical factors involved
3. Opportunists
paulD ,   Jerusalem   (12.12.13)
otherwise known as Leftists, demanding political correctness over the value of the blood recipients life. All for the purpose of creating racial incitement for devious political objectives.
4. blood donor efusal
g.man ,   israel   (12.12.13)
With respect to the Lady concerned, this is nothing more that common sence. It is not any form of prejudice.People from the UK are not acceptable as blood donors either , because of a medical condition prevelent in the U.K.It is no reflection on the individual.
5. Mad Cow Disease?
Sherlock Holmes ,   London England   (12.12.13)
I understood that for years Brits could not donate blood in Israel in case they were carriers of Mad Cow Disease. We didn't scream racism. Was there at some point a reason to have questions about Ethiopians? If not, then the rule must be changed in consultation with the medical authorities.
6. Why Not Declare Israel An All White Jewish State?
World Citizen ,   the world   (12.12.13)
I mean, that's what you Ashkanazem really want isn't it?
7. It's not about skin color
Mike Carmel ,   Tel Aviv   (12.12.13)
It's about historical exposure to diseases of various population groupings. I agree that it looks bad and racist but they should first examine the reasons why these population groupings are excluded.
8. Taken too personally
Joe   (12.12.13)
This is not about race...it is about international medical rules all country place on blood donations.......brits are not allowed to, also other groups. None take it this personally as the Ethiopians do. Sad it has become overblown and some politicians need to know the facts before shouting such rubbish..
9. The Ethiopians have turned it into a race issue
Rafi ,   Merkaz, Israel   (12.12.13)
Brits and people from Ireland can't donate and you don't hear them screaming. Get over it. Better to err on the side of caution. Profiling is one of the only ways to try to be safe.
10. Use this blood for Ethiopians ...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (12.12.13)
it might not harm them, since they have the same blood .It's not about racism but about health concerns.
11. Shameless commentators
Dani ,   Tel Aviv   (12.12.13)
In a life or death situation you people would accept blood from a hog, and you are lying if you say you wouldn't. I was severely anaemic during my pregnancy and was facing a blood transfusion because no iron supplement was making a difference. I wouldn't care if the blood came from a Jew or a Muslim, gay or staright, black or white - if it would save my life and let me raise my child. All donated blood is screened for disease, regardless of its ethnic background. We should be grateful to anyone who is willing to give blood in order to save another life, not write discriminatory remarks.
12. Yael German,
Barry ,   Tel Aviv   (12.12.13)
As health minister, and Yesh Atid hack, she is the one who determines these policies. If she has not done so now, she is the one who should resign in disgrace.
13. If you don't want to have blood from a black man
Sarah B ,   Tel Aviv/London   (12.12.13)
then you better refuse to have any blood at all As blood Transfusions were invented by Charles R. Drew an African American, who ironically bled to death when refused a blood transfusion by white doctors This attitude that Israel is only home to the 'right' type of Jew needs to be stamped out
14. its confusing.
Tony ,   atlanta,usa   (12.12.13)
As I'm ethiopian I want to know all the facts b4 I scream out over racism. Some of you mentioned that the rule of refusal is there for others too. But don't they check all bloods they recieve through donations for any kind of desease anyway? If so what's the point of not taking certain group of people's blood?
15. What a stupid set of comments. Of course he should be fired.
Serge ,   Montreal, Canada   (12.12.13)
When we had a similar scandal in Canada, we eventually dealt with it. The idea that there are good "medical" reasons is nonsense -- you can't isolate infected blood by population group, you have to check all of it anyway, or else you have a faulty system to begin with.
16. ORA @#10 says it all, folks. Good.
Israeli 2   (12.12.13)
Why is anyone so willing to give out their blood? Blood is nefesh. Nefesh is part of one's soul.
17. USA and Canada also descrimninate against Africans
BOB ,   POTOMAC   (12.12.13)
In the questionnaires of the USA and Canada --- people who have lived in Africa since 1977 are also "discriminated" against.Check out the on line pro-Israel site Elder of Ziyon" which yesterday displayed the questionnaires for all to see.
18. Ethopian Blood
DR. C. Bernard ,   Tel-Aviv, Israel   (12.12.13)
commentators 1 through 10 have clearly shown their despicable ignorance as well as racism: since they obviously have no clue as to the screening tests administered by the blood banks prior to donation, they prefer to remain shrouded in their blissful idiocy as an argument thinly veiling their shameful racism. 60 years after the holocaust these embarrassing ignoramuses publish arguments to be fit to the Stürmer. If their lack of basic education and racism were organically transmitable I, for one, would refuse the donation of their blood . Shame on you Judea-Nazis!!!
19. NOW WE HAVE A REAL BLOOD LIBEL
John Robey ,   Austin, Texas   (12.12.13)
When I was a youngster our local hospital kept blood by type and race (O positive Negro) or B negative White etc. Of course that was Mississippi in the fifties. I had hoped that Israel would have made a little more progress in combatting racism over the past seventy years.
20. #18-shame on you Dr.
arne ,   chicago usa   (12.12.13)
If someone is afraid of taking blood from a certain group of people because of a history of illness or disease that does not make he or she a racist.today it seens that everything is racial or anti-semetic. no need for your shame-shames.
21. Pikuach nefesh!
Neal ,   Minneapolis USA   (12.13.13)
No, 16: If blood is nefesh (an ancient but scientifically unlikely belief, despite what the Torah says as pshat), then all the more reason to donate it! First, you are donating part of your soul to another soul who may die without it; what could be better than implanting some of your soul in another? Second, I have been taught that for pikuach nefesh -- the saving of a soul -- one can violate all commandments but three, and (supposedly) giving away part of one's soul is not one of them.
22. Why is the world silent about the anti-celtic racism?
Dan   (12.13.13)
Brits cannot be donors due to a risk of mad cow disease. Why is the world silent about that?
23. Color of skin has nothing to do with blood type.
Sam ,   Usa   (12.13.13)
24. #13 good to see you back Sarah B
Kerwood Derby ,   Frostbite Falls, MN   (12.13.13)
I know you never "left" but those in the jew hating left would like us to think you lean otherwise
25. #20
Rharris ,   London   (12.14.13)
1. Grammar: " that does not make he or she a racist." should be "that does not make him or her a racist" 2. Logic Yes it does. Why would someone be afraid of taking blood from a certain group of people UNLESS he or she was a racist? It's actually quite amusing to see the whole raft of racist reprobates here using some form of Palin-type logiclessness to justify their own primitive biases and prejudices. Any decent person would simply say "I've never heard anything so ridiculous in my life." I wonder, dear Ame of Chicago, whether you, when in need of a blood transfusion in Chicago, would lie in a hospital bed and die because, quite correctly, the doctors in Chicago would refuse to tell you if you were about to get black, white, Chinese or aborigine blood. Dr Bernard, in #18, is absolutely correct in stating that the only reason for refusing blood is racism, pure and clear. IF you think that hospitals do not check and screen the blood, then I wonder what world you live in, possibly the KKK world.
26. To Rharris
Ricardo ,   London   (07.04.16)
Get off your high horse, Rharris. Blood donation services in Canada and the USA both have histories of refusing blood from ANYONE (black or white) who lived in Africa for a certain amount of time, because of the AIDS and malaria risk. The race of the person is immaterial, it is where they lived that matters.
