By their very nature highly unusual weather related events are so rare that contingency planning becomes an economic and statistical conundrum. A few years ago we had a massive ice storm here in Eastern Canada and we were without power for nine and a half days. I walked to a local firestation where I did volunteer work for those needing shelter. Lessons were learned at all levels of Government and with time life returned to normal. Our newspapers made official looking certificates available to all those who survived the ordeal !!

Criticise. Complain. Please can one of u Journslists thank the emergency services. We all sick from hearing negative about infrastructure problems in a growing country.
