1. "The project was approved in 2009, but was cancelled after

two months because of public outrage." As again the public should be outraged! Bibi may consider himself "melech Yisrael", but he sure hasn't done much to deserve this fantasy palace. A small apartment in Tel Aviv was sufficient for the greatest and most humble of Israels leaders, Menahem Begin. Bibi should take note.
2. Waste money on pure pride when:

!. We need to bury our electric cables. 2. Build hospitals. 3. Build schools. 4. Strengthen our defensive system, e g Iron Dome. 5. Lower taxes and/or give subsidies to the lowest economic level. 6. Build public rental housing. 7. Improve the health care of our population. 8. Hire more teachers and lengthen the school day. 9. Subsidize the old and the Shoah survivors. 10. Reopen Tipat Chalav centers to care for infants. 11. Enlarge the social services to protect children from abuse. This list goes on forever - and what do they want? An Israeli White House. That really is what is important to them...not the public.
3. That drawing!
Neal ,   Minneapolis, USA   (12.16.13)
The artist's concept of a PM's residence and office is the best argument against building it! Depending on which to which parts you want to pay attention, it resembles either male or female reproductive equipment! Surely, if such a residence/office is needed, a simpler design would be both practical and less costly.
4. Modesty
Joseph ,   London England   (12.16.13)
Pope Francis moves out of the grand Papal apartments and into the guest house, out of the popemobile and into a used car. The Pope's bills are shared by about one billion Catholics. H M Queen Elizabeth heads the 54 nation British Commonwealth and recycles her clothes to cut costs. Why should Israel even be thinking of wasting money on extravagance during a recession, when Israelis are suffering.
5. the plane will save money but not that blot on the landscape
zionist forever   (12.16.13)
The plane will in the long term pay for itself because these trips abroad cannot be avoided and right now the government pays ELAL prices. The bed would have cost nothing had the plane not been hired from ELAL. Cost easily $1 million+ per round trip because government has to hire the plane, kit it out, pay for the fuel etc. A government owned plane would be a big layout initially but long term saving. It could also be used for other things when not used by the government. The airforce could use it which would allow them to retire an older plane without buying a new one, perhaps we can lease it to ELAL for a small fee on the condition government can have it FREE when needed and ELAL provide the pilot. The airforce can kit it out with all the systems needed for the PM. A plane looks like a luxury but its a long term saving which will pay for itself.
6. Both the house and plane are a WASTE
spyguy ,   seattle usa   (12.16.13)
Why does any leader of any country deserve a mansion, especially a leader that is supposed to be working for the public? Kill the project now. As for the plane, that is easy to do by building cargo pods for the different functions (communications, passengers, etc.) and only rent a cargo plane when travel is needed (several times a year?) load the pods on and fly the emperor (sorry, Prime Minster) where ever he "needs" to go. It is a waste of money to build a specialized plane just to keep the emperor happy.
7. buy a plane with military aid
zionist forever   (12.16.13)
Best solution is with military aid buy a second hand USAF jet so no public funds are used. Rip out the interior and make it a modular aircraft that the IAF can use for their needs but can also easily be fitted out as a specialist diplomatic aircraft with all the facilities a PM needs and a military one. ELAL jets are designed for commercial use and there is only so much you can change if you want the trip to be financially viable which is why the bed cost so much. The plane will be a saving but sadly I think its not going to happen because the left will make it look like a Bibi usury at the expense of the poor even though military aid cannot be spent on civilians in Israel. The ugly thing they call a PM residence should not be built unless it will actually substantially save money in the long run and if it is economical to build a PM residence then make it something that fits in with the traditional Jerusalem landscape not out of Star Trek.
