A very kind gesture. Just asking, how does a homeless man manage to feed and look after a dog?

is quite embarrassing for the pope as if proclaiming him to be part of this morally wrong group.

It's not uncommon for homeless people to have pets, especially dogs. Sometimes, these animals are the only friends they have. I suspect the dogs are taken to charitable clinics for care. I used to volunteer at a veterinary clinic/no-kill shelter, and we always took in the homeless cases at no charge. It was better for the animal, for the owner and for us to know that the animal was properly treated, vaccinated and/or fed. We were able to do this through contributions and grants.

Say what you will, this Pope makes a real difference. When I was thirteen, I concluded that I was gay and became suicidal over it. I went to confession to a Franciscan who saw my panic and despair and said, "Repeat after me--God loves me as much as anyone else. There isn't so much love in the world that we can afford to throw it away when we find it." His kindness kept me alive and in the Church these last fifty years. I bless this Pope every day and believe that his simple words of acceptance will save countless young lives, surrounded by contempt and even violence. In him, they have found a wise friend who greets them with compassion and joy. They have very few others, judging by your harsh and thoughtless comments...
