1. The Chief Rabbi of Safad
Ralph ,   Rishon   (12.22.13)
Why does this person, who does everything possible to undermine the State, and promotes anti-Arab actions in his city, continue to receive his salary from the National Treasury? In any normal country he would have been sentenced to jail long ago.
2. Yes, he was a combat soldier himself- and an officer
Avi ,   Jerusalem   (12.22.13)
And he's right.
3. God Bless him and the Truth
dani matt   (12.22.13)
the army can be a socialist whorehouse as well!
4. bad for women and bad for religious men
Pam ,   UK   (12.22.13)
one of the most morally corrupt facilities in israel. Both should not be part of the idf until the place gets cleaned up thoroughly.
5. Religious girls don;t need IDF to...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (12.22.13)
get strength. They are the strongest women i ever saw, combining large family care ,cooking, cleaning and Parnassah .Always smiling, never complaining, never showing signs of tiredness. The free IDF life style can only weaken them. Moreover, with no girls in the IDF ,more Haredi boys will enlist.
6. Education
Ethan Schwartz ,   Eilat   (12.22.13)
I trust the education my children receive at home to prepare them for the outside world................
7. Pro IDF
zahal zahal   (12.22.13)
say no to the anti-Zahal rabbis.
8. #5 Exactly wrong, as usual...
M. Davison ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (12.22.13)
A hitch in the IDF can strengthen the girls. My two girls came out of their service stringer than when they went in... the big difference, I suppose, is that I had confidence in the education and values my wife and I instilled in them from the time they could understand our words. One of the most difficult jobs in parenting is allowing one's children to grow and be independent, letting them choose their own way rather than forcing them to follow in their parents' footsteps, just as their parents did before them... such behavior can only bring stagnation to the group, which we can see plainly.
9. rabbi combats girls enlistment
Susan Ahyed ,   Netanya, Israel   (12.22.13)
And who is paying his salary?
10. Why would anyone listen to anything
Runner1993 ,   USA   (12.22.13)
these rabbis say or proclaim on any subject at all. Anyone with any good critical judgment knows that these rabbis live in the 18th century, make no sense and are a huge threat to the military and economic strength of Israel.
11. 10 Rabbis are trying hard in...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (12.23.13)
our century to avoid situations like this 12 year old girl raped and filmed by 10 young boys, which in a few years will enlist. If this does not stop, what kind of IDF will we have?
12. Get Real
Tom ,   New York   (12.23.13)
The Rabbi is entitled to his opinion , as to his opinions on Arabs other then Druze can one honestly say that Arabs are loyal ; if so look at whom they elect .
13. 8 Kol Hakavod for your education..
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (12.23.13)
but if you read the papers ,for example [girl12year raped and filmed by 10 young boys] sadly there are many cases of depravation,it is natural that a Rabbi warns for the dangers I wish you lots of naches with your girls.
14. 9You are also paying costs of ..
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (12.23.13)
prisons Rabbis are trying to avoid that depraved people have an easy field for their crimes. So if your main worry is money, you win.
15. Ora - #13
M. Davison ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (12.23.13)
If you didn't notice, that did not happen in the IDF. Other talkbacks of mine show what I would wish the courts to sentence these depraved boys to-- AND their parents. However, DON'T try to pretend that rapes and abuses don't happen in religious communities-- because they do, and denial is the crassest form of hypocrisy. How did Rabbi Elon receive only 3 months community service and NOT get barred from working with youth, even AFTER he was found guilty? I hope the boys don't enjoy such a travesty of justice that the "learned rabbi" did.
16. One Israel with everybody serving equally.
Michael ,   California, USA   (12.23.13)
What the "rabbi" says divides Israelis into groups of citizens. This cannot be accepted under the law and anyone promoting it should be educated as to why he/she is wrong. Those who refuse to be educated should be striped of their responsibilities and even punished. If secular girls serve under the Israeli law, religious girls should also be required to do it. Equality under the law which encompasses all the citizens of the country must be enforced.
17. Army not place for girls
Master Honor ,   All   (12.24.13)
and feminism, gls, glbt, and all rebels are against God laws.
18. Military Service
Norman Gellman ,   Rehovot   (12.24.13)
Perhaps w*e should suspend all payments & subsidies to groups who preach refusal of military service. It is incumbent all able bodied citizens to be ready to defend the country. In todays world to be ready to defend means military training & in he modern world this includes both sexes. These peope are ready to take but are unwilling to give we should stop giving to them.
19. conscientious objections is a right
Laurence ,   israel   (12.25.13)
Shall I remind all the above coercitive that United Nations Commission on Human Rights resolution 1998/77" officially recognized that "persons performing military service may develop conscientious objections." Any normal and democratic country allows conscious objector, but Israel is not a real democraty and actually what drive the talkbackers that would be ready to hang a religious for not performing the army duty is a pure hate of the religious people.
20. Nothing new
Sherlock Holmes ,   London England   (12.26.13)
The prohibition of religious girls doing IDF was signed many years back by many, many Gedolei HaDor, and girls therefore were allowed to do alternative national service. Many opinions say that sending women in combat units is a Torah prohibition based on the verse, 'a woman shall not wear that which applies to a man . . . neither shall a man put on women's garment. Deuteronomy 22.5. They take the view that 'what pertains to a man' refers to combat equipment.
