1. ONE CAN NOT PLEASE ALL OF
CONFUCIUS ,   SAFED CHINA   (12.20.13)
One can not please all of the people all of the time and only a fool tries to please all of the people....
2. DO NOT FLY WITH SELF-HATING
TEL EM STRAIGHT ,   SAFED CYNIC HOUSE   (12.20.13)
Avoid self-hating airlines. Easyjet are less expensive .
3. April 1st joke?
Avi Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (12.20.13)
Did the same passenger ask that that 'offending star of David' be removed from the tail of the aircraft because the logo doesn't take into account the religious needs of Christians and Muslims?
4. HARD TO BELIEVE
MR . INCREDULOUS ,   SAFED CYNIC HOUSE   (12.20.13)
Are the EL-AL people embarrassed and ashamed to be jewish ? and if so ,why ? If this is the case ,best to avoid this airline.
5. maybe they would prefer christmas carols
zionist forever   (12.20.13)
6. Who was it harming????
Dave ,   Montreal, Canada   (12.20.13)
You think people would welcome the blessing of travelers when embarking on a long flight. It is valid for all regardless of their religious orientation.
7. When I'll witness just one crashing plane stopped midair by
tom ,   tel aviv   (12.20.13)
the hand of the Invisible Friend I'll recite the prayer myself, every time; in the meanwhile: please no more of this crap.
8. AN OBVIOUS SOLUTION :
CAPTAIN OBVIOUS ,   SAFED OBVIOUS HOUSE   (12.20.13)
If one does not like jewish customs / religion etc , so DON'T FLY WITH A JEWISH AIRLINE. Antisemites will not be missed.
9. WHAT COMES NEXT ?
MR CYNIC ,   SAFED CYNIC HOUSE   (12.20.13)
El-al will be asked to withdraw its symbols ,including the Star-of- David and hebrew writing ,because some antisemites might be offended .And the El-Al fools will be happy to comply .
10. What do you expect?
Chaim ,   Arad   (12.20.13)
The Star Spangled Banner, Here comes Santa Claus, or perhaps the call to prayer by the Islamic. I bet that would send chills up your spine at 40,000 ft. Now days, you better pray when you fly.
11. We have no backbone
Mitch ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (12.20.13)
it's a shame to see that even in the national homeland and with "jewish independence" we are still ashamed to be Jews in front of non-jews. i have a feeling that self-loathing jews are more bothered by this prayer than non-jews. Visitors probably either don't know what it is or enjoy hearing something from the local culture. I look forward to the day when we will have courageous leaders who will allow Jewish presence on the temple mount and be proud Jews. it's ok for a Jew to refuse to work on shabbat, it's ok to stand up for circumsion and kosher slaughter. We don't have to continue being afraid. Raise the banner of the Jews!!
12. #7 INVISIBLE FRIEND ?
EX -PILOT ,   ISRAEL   (12.20.13)
As a Pilot ,I can happily confirm that it is not uncommon ,nor unheard of ,for even the most cynical of pilots to pray when the proverbial " waste hits the air-conditioning system " and things go wrong. Do you have any idea just how many hear -misses and close calls happen in the air each and every day ?
13. Too BAD. Fly a non-Jewish airline next time..........
Simply anti-semitism   (12.20.13)
El Al is one of the safest airlines in the world... its not all human's efforts this is so. You have many other choices.
14. It's not a Jewish airline.
u s ,   USA   (12.20.13)
It's an Israeli one. Enough with imposing your religion upon everyone.
15. Traveler's Prayer
Marian ,   Romania   (12.20.13)
As far as I know, we don't have a Traveler's Prayer, therefore a suggest El Al to cast Tefilat Haderech first in their canaanean language, then in english, french german, romanian, arabic, spanish, chinese and other important languages, in order to give curage to frighten travelers.
16. #14, Such hypocrisy
Jake   (12.20.13)
Speaking of imposition, name me a US airport which is not right now covered in Christmas decorations and with Christmas carols blaring. There have been numerous complaints about it over the years, with the usual nasty responses from much of the public, in the spirit of "tyranny of the majority".
17. "An El Al Employee Complained"
ReinstateThePrayer! ,   Jerusalem Israel   (12.20.13)
Could have been either a self hating Israeli secular Jew or an Arab that complained The prayer for a safe journey does not specifically mention anything Jewish it is a generic prayer for safety and very lovely no sane person secular or religious of another faith would find it offensive the opposite so those who complained most likely are fanatical haters of Judaism or religion in general.
18. This is the English translation...
Franco ,   Roma, Italia   (12.20.13)
Please tell me who can feel offended by these words. "May it be Your will, o Lord, our God and the God of our ancestors, that You lead us toward peace, guide our footsteps toward peace, and make us reach our desired destination for life, gladness, and peace. May You rescue us from the hand of every foe, ambush along the way, and from all manner of punishments that assemble to come to earth. May You send blessing in our handiwork, and grant us grace, kindness, and mercy in Your eyes and in the eyes of all who see us. May You hear the sound of our humble request because You are God Who hears prayer requests. Blessed are You, our Lord, Who hears prayer."
19. Too Bad!
David ,   Montpelier   (12.20.13)
Let's see, how many times have I endured Christian music, or invocations at public events where Jesus Christ Lord and Savior is invoked on all those present. Don't like Jewish prayer music, well too bad!
20.  :-)
mark ,   ca   (12.20.13)
...when air crews start to complain, this is a bad sign..
21. #14 u s Your WRONG El Al Airlines Is Jewish
(12.20.13)
22. #14: How sad indeed that Israel is forever Jewish. Isn't it?
Israeli 2   (12.20.13)
23. It is a well known fact
Keila ,   Chicago, USA   (12.20.13)
That without prayers El-Al planes would not be able to get off the ground or fly. It is by the grace of G-d that El-Al (and other airlines) even fly. So shut up, sit back and enjoy the prayers. Add a few yourself too.
24. Tfilat haderech
Michal Stussy ,   Zweisimmen, Switzerl   (12.20.13)
Why remove this beautiful prayer? Does it in any way harm anybody? ElAl is an Israeli plane, Israel is a jewish state, so I find it hard to believe that some people object. Where is tolerance? As a Jew living in a christian country i also cannot complain about all those Chtistmas songs everywhere I go. Too sad the prayer for journeys is removed. I would have loved hearing it on my next flight.
25. As a Christian
What!!! ,   USA   (12.20.13)
I want that prayer to stay, remove the employ, keep the prayer, I will join in reciting it and lets all fly safely! I am going to complain that they are removing the prayer...
26. prayers on el al
natalie ginsburg ,   jerusalem israel   (12.20.13)
Another reason not to fly El al....
27. To no8 El Al is not a Jewish airline
Non Jewish immigrant ,   Haifa   (12.20.13)
It's an Israeli airline!
28. el al
Israeli   (12.20.13)
Some people out there have to be reminded that Israel and therefore el al her flag carrier is a secular country
29. To Keila 23 if planes are flown by god
Non Jewish immigrant ,   Haifa   (12.21.13)
Then why do we even need pilots? I'm going to hop on my car and ask god to drive me home
30. #17, Prayer is offensive. Its purpose is to brainwash.
Michael ,   California, USA   (12.21.13)
No matter which religion the prayer comes from, it offends those who are of a different religion and it offends secular. The purpose may be innocent enough, such as asking for a trouble free journey, but it offends nevertheless. Those who believe in the "magic" of the prayer that is sounded may feel good, but people like me are offended. The prayer tells me that I am "different," it tries to brainwash me into believing. It is a childish gesture, not worthy of a governmental airline like El Al.
