1. great
Ilana   (12.22.13)
How wonderful that there are strong and sane voices out there. Thank you!
2. Congress should call for Aussie style 100% vote
Norbus ,   Jerusalem   (12.22.13)
Only 16% voted for boycott. Silent or against of 84% ignored. That would be a more productive use of Representatives time
3. Counter boycott
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.22.13)
Kick out the palestinians who study in Israel. Why do we permitt to Barghouti, the BDS leader, to study in Tel Aviv University? He and the pals can study in Amman, their homeland.
4. 3 Sara, i agree completely
CJK   (12.22.13)
we are way too generous with our enemies.
5. Pretty dumb
mea   (12.22.13)
Pretty dumb for American academics to protest Israeli institutions considering Israel produces a far better graduate. In fact, I urge Israeli universities to disallow any further collaboration with American academics who are members of this organization. It is their loss.
6. ASA should be kicked out from academic organizations
EST ,   Miami USA   (12.22.13)
It has become a political organization and its actions defeat stated objective of academics...to engage in the expansion of research and learning. This anti-Semitic boycott has nothing in terms of learning nor research and it certainly does not benefit either at academic institutions in the US. On the contrary, it would prohibit them from getting up-to-date research information and engage in a cultural exchange that benefits American students...or maybe that is what ASA's leadership wants? If they limit access to democratic values, free expression of tolerance and ideas and modern technology ... they will better control the minds of students and future leaders....mmmm food for thought.
7. # 3 Absolutely !!!
BUILD BABY BUILD ,   United States   (12.22.13)
KIck the bums out on their tails.... That bomb planted on the and defused was their way of 'graduating' in Israel. Kick every last one out. And... KEEP BUILDING ISRAEL !!!!!
8. US. Universities as authoritarian fascists
carlos ,   San Diego CA   (12.22.13)
The U.S universities are becoming centers for hatemongering, indoctrination and have bad programs. They are a sign of decadence in the nation. No big loss. Israel should not deal with antisemites and fascists.
9. So, did the ASA lose it's tongue or nerve?
BUILD BABY BUILD ,   United States   (12.22.13)
where are the little arab suckers? In the bathroom, with an underaged boy? Or sick, in the hospital.. in bed.... with an orderly? Or partying with GLADD? LOL Thankfully, these lice are being bitch slapped by some real politicians and, also in public... too funny, too rich. BUILD MORE JEWISH HOMES IN ALL OF ISRAEL !!!!
10. fighters
S. Kansas ,   Eilat   (12.22.13)
Well I landed on one Israeli website that states it won't accept orders from Ireland and asks ASA people to "exit the website NOW."
11. ASA boycott
graczek ,   Maryland, USA   (12.22.13)
No one denies the various accomplishments of the Israel academic establishments; indeed many are truly impressive. The crux of the matter is, however, that the very foundation of this state was illicit and a usurpation of Muslim and Christian land; this, the boycotts. This story also points up the inordinate influence that the Zionist establishment has on Congress. This situation will soon reverse itself.
12. Thank you to the representatives
R ,   Israel   (12.22.13)
Thank you to reps Engle, Franks, Lamborn and Sherman. Voices of sanity and moderation in an increasingly hypocritical and hateful atmosphere.
13. No. 3
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.22.13)
"permit to" "pals" Try harder next time, poor, pathetic, illiterate troll ....
14. Israel, Michael Oren, says "jump", Congress says "how high?"
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (12.22.13)
"Community standards are local norms bounding acceptable conduct. Sometimes these standards can be itemized in a list that states the community's values and sets guidelines for participation in the community. Alternatively, informal standards may be imprecisely described as "I'll know it when I see it.""
15. Antisemitism motivated the ASA,
bob k ,   orlando fl us   (12.22.13)
Those who want to isolate, weaken and they hope destroy Israel, use every available platform. We call it 'the extremist left' but anti-Semitism goes wherever it can flourish. IIn eastern Europe it is the right which uses anti-Semitism. The environmentalist movement has anti-semites who claim Israel is ruining the environment of Arabs. There is no end to anti-Semitism. The 'left' which is meaningless term, claims to represent social justice, concern for all peoples and cultures etc yet this movement worships the Palestinians who either refuse to recognize that Jews like Arabs have the right to self-determination, i.e. the PA or openly call for Israel's destruction - like hamas who rule Gaza. It is always anti-Semitism and must be condemned and groups like ASA must be shunned.
16. # 5 Mea, can you do that?
BUILD BABY BUILD ,   United States   (12.22.13)
if so, please do and and show them what a real academic boycott feels like... We are the cousins of Einstein for pete's sake. They are the cousins of terrorists.
17. #11 graczek
DavidR ,   USA   (12.22.13)
A TRUE Christian completely disagrees with you. A TRUE Christian would link arms with all the Jews and gladly welcome them to THEIR HOMELAND! The world is full of folks who claim the title "Christian", however, you would be hard pressed to find many real ones. They have been suppressed by the fake ones beginning with emperor constantine. Also, the true ones go by the title Messianic, not Christian. I doubt Y-Net will publish this since I used the "M" word.
18. 3- Counter Boycott
k ,   US   (12.22.13)
For what it is worth I do my share of boycotting, for example of the Asian Student Association jumped on the Anti Israel bandwagon, and I do everything I can not to support any Asian American business, and the Native Americans also did the boycotting, and I don't go to any of the Native American casinos, it is small, but I do what I can
19. Academic boycott of Iran and Syria
citizen ,   Israel   (12.22.13)
Elkin does not know that USA has not normal diplomatic relations with Syria and Iran, and perhaps no exchange with Academy of those countries. -the Israel reaction to the boycott must evade silly comparison.
20. Germany 1933
eva ,   frankfurt am Main   (12.22.13)
In Germany they boycott Israeli scientists silently, not officially. One should publish a name list of the university teachers who voted for the boycott and their surely meagre academic accomplishments. Exposure and ridicule are the best weapons in the academic world. Again in Germany Israel is boycotted inofficially.
21. To: No. 11
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.22.13)
How can it be usurpation? WE WERE THERE FIRST! What part of that do you NOT understand? If Moslems can Christians behave nicely, they can stay. Otherwise, they will have to leave. The State of Israel is a safe haven for Jews. Everyone else is a sad second best. Do you understand?
22. ASA boycott; proper response
Alon ,   Bet Shemesh, Israel   (12.22.13)
This is tantamount to an economic boycott by a US institution that receives favorable tax status and institutions that receive gov't funds. I urge all dual nationals (Isr-US) to contact their Congressional representatives (House and Senate) and demand that they introduce legislation cutting off funds to the schools where these professors teach and that the IRS take away any tax benefit status of the ASA.
23. eva, what Israeli scientists in 1933.
Miron ,   USA   (12.23.13)
