land thru Britain during WW2
2. sad for the good among them but
Ilana   (12.25.13)
there is no other choice. We cannot have rockets landing on us time after time, terror attacks, murders etc. They need to stop this terror and educate for peace not death
3. Another war crime
Sally ,   UK   (12.25.13)
Blocking the export of commercial goods has *nothing* to do with 'security' and everything to do with the "collective punishment" of a civilian population - a war crime under international law.
4. Sorry, guys,
Mira ,   Vienna   (12.25.13)
but you msut blame that on Hamas, not on us and try to get rid of them, no other way, because you will not be enclosed into a possible peace treaty either!
5. The' poor innocent ones' should confront Hamas, not Israel
Roland ,   London England   (12.25.13)
I don't believe there is an innocent ones except babes in arms !
6. What is the other option?
AĆda ,   Winnipeg, Canada   (12.25.13)
No consequences is the other option? Gazans should look at their own people and make them responsible for their situation.
7. Wrong tactics. Punish Hamas, not Gazans.
David ,   Hartford USA   (12.25.13)
While it's true that many Gazans fully support Hamas (brainwashed morons), many do not and should not be punished for Hamas's terror strikes. The produce should be let through and Hamas infrastructure should be pounded into dust by all means possible. Artillery, aircraft, missiles, etc. Tunnels should be filled with gas and ignited. It's time to hurt Hamas, not the people trying to scratch out a living. Let the produce go! And then beat the tar out of Hamas, including its leadership.
8. Let the farmers bitch to Hamas
Ron ,   oc us   (12.25.13)
All they have to do is plead with Hamas not to murder. A tough sell with Hamas charter and all. Perhaps Springtime for Gaza is in the offing.
9. let hamas pay for the damage

12. EU LOGIC... GOODS FROM GAZA TERRORISTS OK... BUT
stude ham   (12.25.13)
GOODS FROM SETTLERS NOT OK. once again in its recent history Europe is making all of the wrong choices.
13. Sorry Charlie
frauss ,   Jerusalem   (12.25.13)
"He lamented the fact that private businessmen were footing the bill for the growing tensions between Israel and Hamas." We lament that our civilians foot the bill for Hamas terror.
14. Thank you israel!
michael Pielet ,   israel   (12.25.13)
Obviously an excellent result. The arabs will have access to cheap strawberries and flowers. An excellent way to celebrate the holiday season. Of course they will be grateful to their good friends the Jews for causing this benevolence to fall on them.
15. via Egypt
israeli ,   israel   (12.25.13)
They should try exporting their merchandise via their Egyptian brethren. Plus the fact that they are now complaining about the closed crossing means that it was open before the recent terror attacks?
16. we were told gaza is a democeacy they can vote hamas out. wh
ralph   (12.25.13)
Why are we allowing them to get away without taking responsibility for themselves. Ban and EU and UKand un are hypocrites. We were told the peanut farmer certified Hama's was elected democraticly now the citizens must take responsibility for their vote.
17. Am I supposed to weep?
Chaim ,   Arad   (12.25.13)
Hey, these knuckleheads voted for the Hamas, let them throw flowers and start eating a bunch of strawberries. As they say, stupid is as stupid does.
18. Simple solution: stop attacking us + u can go on w/yr lives.
barbara ,   Haifa Israel   (12.25.13)
19. Israel held to rules unheard of in history of war
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (12.25.13)
Let's start with the basics: Hamas-run Gaza is committed to unending war with Israel. A country so threatened, historically, has been entitled to do whatever was deemed necessary to defeat the aggressor, including using whatever weapons at their disposal, depriving them of resources, etc. Even with modern protections against non-combatants, that still leaves a lot of options. What was *never* done, and is expected nowhere else, is that the victimized sustain the aggressor state and support the aggressor's citizenry with a "normal life". Yet here, and only here, Israel is expected to keep Gaza supplied with fuel and electricity, water and foodstuffs, household goods, etc. as well as maintain its trade opportunities. This, even though Gaza has another border with a fellow Arab country. Seriously, this is just nuts. And the fault lies with the "international community" that has convinced Gaza in particular, and the Palestinians in general, that they should expect their aggression to be cost-free, as long as the target is Israel.
20. West held Iron Courtain for 70 years, but
Miron ,   USA   (12.25.13)
there wasn't one Russian explosive ever. What's the trick? May be Russia was wrong. Seems to me West has a lot more appreciation to farmers with terror than farmers with grain.
21. As usual, Israel bolsters terrorists
(12.25.13)
No wonder Israel has been suffering from terrorism for so long. It never misses an opportunity to bolster terrorists.
22. idiots
courtney ,   usa   (12.25.13)
when you support and vote for terrorists, you deal with the consequences
23. #3 Palestinian terror is a war crime
Cynthia ,   USA   (12.26.13)
Israel closes these crossings for security purposes. Humanitarian aid has been delivered. With almost daily terror attacks, commercial goods do not trump Israel's security. The Palestinians are responsible for this problem. Your slogans are unconvincing.
