1. Why shouldn't he spend? Isn't there enough money now
Herman ,   Haifa   (01.08.14)
with their massive children budget cut and the funding they stopped to yeshivas?
2. About time too!
A Jerusalemite ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (01.08.14)
3. Socialists envy destroys. Capitalism builds
Norbus ,   JERUSALEM   (01.08.14)
Labour should look where the billions are wasted. Biggest waste in Israel is due to bureaucracy and inefficiency built into the system and then inherited from founding socialists
4. Where has the money gone?
(01.08.14)
It is a good idea to limit spending of the Ministers and President, but it should be equally applied to all: Leftists like Peres and Olmert, a well as Netanyahu. The law should be drafted to be overturned only with a majority of 110 Knesset members. But the truth is the money saved is peanuts. As journalist Evelyn Gordon reveals billions are wasted on civil servants, so much that if civil servants conditions were set equal to their private sector counterparts Israel would have no deficit AND taxes could be lowered by 20%.
5. the PM is a different case to other MKS
zionist forever   (01.08.14)
Bibi wants to spend most his time living in his private home and as the PM he is given money for expenses. Even if he was living in the official PM residence full time the state would sill be obligated to keep his private home in good order whilst he is living elsewhere because of his job Bibi also entertains diplomats etc at his private home sometimes and if your entertaining you need the place in good order. This whole Bibi thing has been blown out of order totally. The upkeep of his private home, the bed, every shekel the PM spends seems to be resented, not going to be long before the public start saying we should not give the PM any expenses and he should pay his way.
6. I agree....
Toledano Jean-Pierre ,   israel   (01.08.14)
I agree if he used the money to buy things (candles, food, drinks, security, sleeping accomodations...) to receive politicians, ambassadors, politicians from abroad in his private house (s), but... related to the country's interest!
7. Stop with the third world mentality
sheik rattle & roll ,   USA   (01.08.14)
The ice cream budget could be considered excessive, however the PM needs a private Jet for foreign travel. Small third world countries like Ecuador have there own official presidential plane. Most American fortune 500 countries have multiple planes, and over twelve thousand American citizens have private Jets registered in the US. Israel has to dump it's small time socialist mentality.
8. Perspective
Dan ,   K"S   (01.08.14)
Assuming that 80k shekel were spent on the Natenyahu's home, it is only 1 agura per person. By raising prices from .99 to 1.00 (1 agura) you have the cost in one day for a whole year. Note: By paying with a credit card, you pay .99 and not 1.00
9. #5: Now explain that double bed, on a mere 5 hr flight!
