Lieberman's proposal is historically unique. Historically, nations acquire and conquer additional territory. Never before has a country voluntarilly offered to free territory from its domain. Probably its the young Israeli arabs who hold up signs and protest; their idealism unfettered by reality and practicality. I would point out to Sarah B. and other transferists that the Balfour Declaration is clear in not only protecting the rights of indiginous non Jewish population but protecting the political status of Jews in the diaspora who chose not to repatriate to the Jewish homeland. That spirit should govern any compromise today and the status of Israel's non Jews should not be adversely effected by a political agreement. Secondly, I am glad Ms. Sarah is so certain about her ancestral roots because, as she undoubtably knows, our DNA as Jews is extremely closely related to that of specifically Palestinian Arabs.
