1. Two state solution ....
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (01.13.14)
.... of course! Israel is one. Jordan is the other. No other state would be viable, and thus no other state can be possible. I think there are enough terrorist mongrel states in existence already, and another one -- perpetually whining and looking for handouts -- is really not called for.
2. Would that this were possible!
exUK ,   Tel Aviv   (01.13.14)
If we thought that Abbas was a partner in peace, one need only read reports of his very recent speech, where he proclaimed that without East Jerusalem and the right of return,he was not interested..Is he playing the familiar ploy of having two visible policies, one for his population and another for the rest of us.? Maybe he is worried that any positive move towars concessions might lead to his early demise?
3. Peres, you're causing Sharon already
Dave   (01.13.14)
to turn in his grave with your dumb idea of a two-state solution. Peres, you're not getting younger. Isn't it about time you repent to the ways of your great holy ancestors?
4. To: ex-UK at No. 2
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (01.13.14)
Actually, what he is doing is setting himself up to be "blameless" when negotiations collapse. You'd think that by now, the international community would have cottoned on to the fact that Abbas is a double-dealing, dishonest sneak, but I guess not.
5. #1 Sarah B: 2 State Solution
Daniel ,   TLV   (01.13.14)
Sarah there are many times I think you post brilliantly. Other times I disagree. Here I am of both minds. Facts on the ground are Jordan and Israel. Two States. It would be political and national suicide however to posit keeping things as they are but either deporting all Palestinians to Jordan or forcing Israeli citizenship on them. Much as I could find reasons to support the former in 1967, or in 1972, today that possibility is gone without a U.N. approved repatriation act and agreement from all parties. Never gonna happen. Israel also can not afford all of those Palestinians as citizens without becoming a true apartheid state denying them the vote and other rights. That too is not a possibility for a viable future. That leaves two potential solutions. The current status quo which is untenable or a new state carved out, which is unpalatable. What no one seems to be publicly considering is all the land should NOT be carved out of Israel. The West Bank was at one time land Jordan had conquered. Jordan needs to be brought to the table and made to give up some of it's land as well. If Palestine is carved out of the West Bank and parts of Jordan and even some of East J'lem (not the Old City) everyone could have a viable state.
6. Arab Palestinians are not interested in peace
CJK   (01.13.14)
it is absolutely obvious that the arab palestinians will never recognise jewish sovereignty in the land of israel. the obama regime and its european allies fail to understand that the conflict between the jewish state and the muslims is religious in nature. it is for this reason that muslim states, which have no objective strategic interests in this conflict, nevertheless insert themselves in the conflict. it is the religious nature of the conflict which impels obama representatives to crawl to saudi arabia and attempt to get approval for obama's framework from the saudis. the muslims want to assert their imperial rights on lands they had conquered in the past. as long as the west allows muslim supremacist ideas to shape the geo-political discourse in the middle east, the results will be instability and wars.
7. #5, WHO has carved out your mind ???

Daniel-you must surely know that there are two Sarah's.The one from London is a troll paid to post nonsense.
9. Jordan Valley Parts Area C need Militirization
Zechariah   (01.14.14)
Clearly the Jordan Valley needs a huge Defensive and Deterrant Capacity to protect the Jews in Israel even many Arabs from WMD attack into the Decades ahead .The Arabs of Israel may be Regarded as Expendable by PsychofanaticsmGangs who in Syria kill Eachother over Minor Differences but Chiefly for the adrenalin of Power and Control.Even Hamas is threatened .From the Sea to the River the current status with closing of all the socioeconomic gaps and a Reconciliation Education system but with Pride in Positive attributes of each sector is a Progressive Path.
10. 2 State Final Solution is abomination.
Chaim ,   Israel   (01.15.14)
It is obvious to any child, capable of reading a map, that the Two State Final Solution is a deadly abomination. Judea and Samaria are part of Israel and make Israel viable.
11. Two-state fantasy
Brod ,   USA   (01.15.14)
Israel's Hope in the GOD of Israel that gave and the restored the Land of Israel to the Children of Israel. The GOD of Israel is Israel's Strength and NOT on 2-state crap engineered by external forces whose ultimate goal is the destruction of Israel. Israel should say NO to this 2-state fantasy.
12. #10 Adults are more perceptive than childen
On the Balcony   (01.16.14)
children prefer a 5 shekel coin (or a nickle) to a ten shekel coin (or a dime) because one is "obviously" bigger than the other, but adults understand that bigger does not always mean better --which is why the vast majority of rational thinking Israelis accept a two-state solution to the west of Jordan.
