1. already all offshore accounts must be declared
zionist forever   (01.17.14)
There is no need for a special bill saying MKS must declare any offshore accounts because all Israelis are obligated to declare to the tax authorities any investments of bank accounts outside Israel. Any MK specific law just because some American magazine discovered Bibi had a legal offshore account would just be a populist law & probably end up a mess. What if an MK with an offshore account and is part of a coalition and the government ( not individual MK ) wants to introduce new laws regarding offshore accounts. Just because the government is debating new rules any MK with an account will be under pressure to close it even if the bill fails to pass so the public who only read the headlines see a scandal even though no crimes have been committed. If its legal for everybody else it should be legal for MKS

rabin was forced to resign because he did not declare he had a us bank account which was illegal at that time. bibi declared and filed his returns and he acted within the legal norm. what is it then if not a smear campaign? be objective on this pls

What Rabin did was illegal: he was a crook. What Netanyahu was 100% legal. He legally opened a bank account, he legally deposited his own money in it, and he told the tax authorities.

There is nothing wrong with having a for. bank account as long as you declare your interest/dividend income to the tax authorities...stop the bashing.

Prime Minister Netanyahu declared his offshore account, which is fully legal in any event. Rabin hid his -- and in Rabin's day, having a foreign account was ILLEGAL. Does that answer your rather stupid question?

There is a huge difference between Bibi & Rabin. At the time at least it was illegal to have a foreign bank account of the type Rabin had. Bibi has an offshore account which is legal under Israeli law as it stands today and the tax authorities know about it. Rabinn broke the law intentionally or not whilst for Bibi the way its been reported makes it look like a scandal even though its not.
8. off shore accounts.
DavidR ,   USA   (01.17.14)
If I were an Israeli citizen it would behoove me to have an off shore account. The way the world is lining up against Israel there may be another diaspora. We pray not but some old fashioned tshuvah is in order none the less. Then the world will not matter.
9. Aliya warning!
Don't do it   (01.18.14)
The confiscatory "state" (read: oligarchy) in Israel will not rest until it soaks you for every penny of your hard-earned nest egg, via abusive and unreasonable taxation, and now laws to go after anything you may have left in your bank at home... Don't do it - you'll be sorry!!! Don't say you haven't been warned!

What did he do wrong, I'm confused? " It should be noted that this activity is allowed by law." "The accounts and deposits were fully reported to the authorities in Israel..."

13. Do you mean to say that Netenhayu is not a crook?
Avi ,   Israel   (01.18.14)
If that is what you are trying to say, then you are more stupid than I thought...
