Why are the sons not wearing kippot as they recite the Kaddish prayer? No where outside of Israel would even the most anti-religious refrain from putting on a Kippa while reciting Kaddish. Sadly, only in the land of Israel are there Jews who refuse to put on a kippah while reciting the religious prayer of Kaddish. How sad.

- The kipah is normally used for religious purposes. I wear it with shabbath, etc.... but... as far I remember me: in the Torah is only mentionned that you have to cover yourself when you was going into the Temple compound (Beth haMikdash). Afterwards the rabbis ordered to used it in the synagogues as a sort of memory of that past. But, I don't want to discuss the matter: I'm secular, but nevertheless I follow most of the time the law. - What I didn't like is the fact that the Meretz chairwoman used the funeral as a political forum. Maybe, she wanted to be or doing like Aloni: be original, shocking the mainstream, kick down an open door,... But, from my point of view: as a bad copy!

and none reformed Jews wear even a smaller kippah,i am not so sure that king David and the prophets of Israel wore kippahs,and dressed like haredim,the fact that the 3 sons recited the Kadish,indicates that they are good Jews,the Pope also wears a kippah,that doesn't make him Jew.

One's religion and how one chooses to express their belief is a personal decision. Kaddish teaches us to praise life at a time of grief. It is part of our national and cultural heritage. Orthodox Jewry has no copyright on it. Shulamit Aloni would have been quick to point out the arrogance and self righteousness of some of the previous posters.
