The talks will fail, if for no other reason, because they cannot possibly succeed. How can Israel arrive at a meaningful peace arrangement with a people whose religion calls upon them to kill the Jews? Whose clerics issue Fatwas calling for the destruction of Israel? Whose schools teach the joys of martyrdom and the celebration of suicide bombers as martyrs? Since none of those issues are discussion items in the so-called "peace talks", or are mentioned in Kerry's "framework for peace", Israel is apparently expected to ignore them. What is the point of threatening ourselves? Finance Minister Lapid must know that the other side is not ready for any kind of reasonable agreement. If there is no agreement we should do our best to make sure that we are not the one who is blamed. I just don't believe it makes sense to threaten ourselves in this way.

A cost of a $11 Billion Dollars to avert National suicide is pretty cheap in economic terms. IMr. Lapid if you want to give up on a personal level that is your choice. But as an "elected" official you are required to perform your due diligence and not just make thoughtful decisions but honest decisions. You believe we should be like the rest of the nations. Fine. No nation in the world would give away their land. So be like the rest of the nations and stand firm on our rights.
