It puts the onus of resolving the conflict primarily on Israel and excuses the Palestinian hard-line; and by not condemning the threat of boycotts as immoral and unfair it passively endorses it. Kerry should be addressing Palestinian rejection of the existence of a Jewish state and of Jewish rights if he truly wants to resolve the conflict. Saeb Erekat's recent comments about why the Palestinians could never accept a Jewish state is as usual just glossed over but it is this mindset that is the primary hurdle in resolving the conflict. It takes true courage to confront this hurdle.

Some right-wingers unfortunately live in a fantasy where everything will carry on as normal. Obviously they are not noting that the world is changing. Like it or not, it's changing. We have exactly three options. 1. A peace deal and a two-state solution that guarantees Israel as a Jewish democratic state. 2. A one-state solution which will be relatively evenly split between Jews and Arabs. 3. A continued non-peace that will turn Israel into an international pariah. Let's remember that there's not one country in the world that has accepted the current situation, and that goes for both Democrats and Republicans in the US as well. Those talking against peace are effectively advocating the end of Israel.

I think both Kerry and Bennet were wrong. Kerry is saying there could be a boycott, and in so doing helps advertise both the boycott and why he thinks there would be one. Bennet should have spoken with him quietly and let the public say that Kerry is attempting to bargain in the wrong shuk. We know that Kerry is an Anglo and not a Semite.
