31. name nonsense
ky   (02.10.14)
I think it would be right to say that a very large number of Ashkenazim would also have Sephardi component in their background. When Jews drifted out of Spain in the 15th century they ended up all over Europe. It goes without saying that intermarriage took place between the two
32. its not good idea
anton ,   istanbul   (02.10.14)
to publish jewish surnames some of them cant be recognized if not seen or heard before it might put some indivuals in danger in the future
33. to 1.
David ,   Madrid, Spain   (02.10.14)
No, moslems (moriscos in Spanish) were expelled a 100 years later, 1609-1613 after "La Rebellion de las Alpujarras" because they were supporting the Ottoman piracy against spanish coasts... Anyways, Morocco has been claiming at least one half of Spain as theirs for years and years... they call it Al-Aldalus and in every muslim country you find the same idea...
34. #23 I live in both London and Tel Aviv, London is cheaper in
Jack   (02.10.14)
almost EVERYTHING.. Actually, as I write this, I'd change my mind and I'd say. Everything. Once you have bought/paid rent for your property, please tell me what is cheaper in Israel? I'm actually keen to know. For a start Israeli produce is cheaper in Asda, Aldi or Tescos than it is in Israel. Which is plain bonkers..
35. Unbelievable
Gallula ,   Paris   (02.10.14)
It makes sense to ease to travel around Eurabia but do not forget Spain is already judenhein and they pay the price (unemployment, crisis,...). Those whose who encourage to emigrate are against Zionism! Future French alyah will offset anyway.....
36. #2 & #8
Maurice ,   Montreal   (02.10.14)
London cheaper than Tel Aviv? You must be dreaming. London real estate is the MOST expensive in the world!
37. Weren't they?
Deyaz ,   USA   (02.10.14)
Back when I took history classes (years and years ago), I recall that, well, Muslims were also expelled from Spain. I'm not sure what your point is though, but why should only Jews benefit from this "right of return" and why do Jews only have that "right" when other peoples don't?
38. #8 and 9, pull the other one
Beauchard   (02.10.14)
Clever, pretending to be a Jew/israeli to attack Jews/Israelis. Netanyahu has a "bolthole" in Florida. Sara he/she has British citizenship for "insurance" and misuse of National Health Service. So he/she lives in Israel? No, he/she has 3 apartments in Israel, "somewhere warm to have a holiday". Lots of Israelis cheat like he/she does. The word "Jew" is written with a small j. To summarize what it is saying: I am just a normal Jewish cheat.
39. why?
max ,   washington dc   (02.10.14)
Why would any Jew ever want a passport to a Country that tortured, crucified and expelled them? Europe also is not a haven as anti semitism and anti Israel actions take place daily.
40. #5
Natalli ,   Tel Aviv   (02.10.14)
I agree with every word you wrote. I am also sure Nassralla read these articles... I wonder what he says to himself... remember when he called Israel = spider web ? The truth is, this is a result of a too free press in Israel, YES there is such a thing, since the writers will write stuff that may be harmful to their country just to make for a daily article and make living, with disregard as to the results of the crap they write.
41. Expulsion of Jews from Spain
Harold ,   USA   (02.10.14)
King Fernando II and Queen Isabella I signed an edict ordering non Christians to convert the Christianity or leave Spain. So many Jews and Muslims left Spain because they refused to convert. Spain before Fernando used to be called Mustim Spain and Jews were living and educating with the Arabs for more than 700 years. Look what happened now Jews and Arabs hate to see each other.
42. #37: Other way round
Igor ,   Germany   (02.10.14)
It is typical of antisemites not only to lie, but to claim the exact opposite of the truth. No, the Jews don't bake Pessach bread from Christian blood, as that would imply breaking at least three laws: Prohibition of murder, prohibition of eating blood, and prohibition of eating non-kosher flesh. Equally, Jews have LESS, not more rights in this world than anyone else. No other state is forced to justify its self-defence or mere existence, but Israel, As for the expulsion of Muslims, see #33.
43. To: No. 19
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.10.14)
But you live in the U.K., and have three apartments, two of which you rent as income apartments (income which you probably do not declare). Why would ANYONE in their right mind pay attention to a single thing you write? Besides an incredible whininess and seemingly endless self-pity, you contribute absolutely nothing.
44. #38 Beauchard
Sarah B ,   Tel Aviv/London   (02.10.14)
I have an Israeli passport, I have property in Israel. I live there 4 weeks a year, and spend the remainder in the UK. I provide accommodation for 2 Israeli families, and work for one family member to upkeep the apartment block in return for a reduction in rent It is not cheating it is within the rules, and enabling me to have a nice little income Not my fault if you are jealous
45. To: No. 8
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.10.14)
I thought you burned your U.K. passport. You claim to have done precisely that. So ... were you lying then, or are you lying now? Rising water? That should suit you, chica. You're always bitching and moaning about swimming pools, after all. Do us all a favor and don't come back.
46. To: No. 37
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.10.14)
The Moslems lost a war with Spain. A war which they started (gee, what a surprise!) Spain threw out the Moslems after the Moslems lost the war. The Jews were kicked out for no reason other than that they were Jewish. Big difference.
47. To: Beauchard at No. 38
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.10.14)
And many Israelis do not cheat and value their Israeli citizenship above most things. Please do not draw conclusions about dual citizens based on the whiny self-pitying posts by Sarah B of the U.K. and Tel Aviv, and please do not ever confuse that little sniveler with me.
48. To: No. 41
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.10.14)
Arabs hate us; not the other way around. And please, get a better grasp on the facts before pontificating. You're never accurate.
49. A Spanish Passport is an EU passport, opens all of Europe
Will Sparkes   (02.10.14)
to live work and play in. A lot of these trolls commenting on dont realize that.
50. Nothing to do with Spanish economy, a load of Mizrachi wont
am am   (02.10.14)
be helping boost Spains economy, as you can see in Israel they dont do there or get a chance to with the current Ashkenzi 'establishment'.. The decision within Spain wasnt made overnight and probably took YEARS, and if they are as bureactic loving as Israelis are it will have taken 20/30 years to get the fax approved.
51. #39 why would any black person live in America? a land that
Aaron Meister   (02.10.14)
tortured them and enslaved them in the last 200 years. What Spain did was over 500 years ago, are the people there the same today? Are the people of America rounding up black slaves today? erm well maybe in some states. Grow up.
52. Check out these familiy names..
Abu Zibby ,   Haifa, IL   (02.10.14)
.. the "Crème de la Crème" of Israeli society.
53. Europeen Passports
Alice ,   Israel/Canada   (02.10.14)
Thher is nowhere to run to, but to......ISRAEL
54. How times have changed!
Checkpoint Charlie ,   London   (02.10.14)
A good amount of Israelis will take advantage if this just like like Israelis like to live in Berlin for example. -- Its important to have a good job first and foremost.
55. Pasaporte Español
Bar-Chama ,   Santa Fe   (02.10.14)
I have 4 passport's and they only place on earth I can live a decent life is in the US. Spain is dried up. EU, well, you will not get far that far if you cannot speak the local language coupled with an unpronounceable name. 1. USA 2. Swedish/EU 3. Israel 4. Argentinean
56.  # 23/36 BRUSSELS versus TEL AVIV !
FO ,   Belgium   (02.10.14)
Why always compare London to Tel Aviv? Rather e.g. Brussels with approximately the same size as greater Tel Aviv (Gush Dan). In Brussels, real estate, food, clothes, etc are cheaper than in Tel Aviv, and wages are higher! Explanation? Read my post # 13 !
57. #45 Changed my mind
Sarah B ,   Tel Aviv/London   (02.10.14)
Notice you are showing your solidarity with Israel by ensuring you can remain safely ensconced in the United States. Whilst calling for policies which endanger Israel with your warped right wing ideology. But that is your politics, just as long as you are not personally endangered. Sorry the truth hurts, but then your Grandma did send Irma Grese to the gallows didn't she? And you have the gall to accuse me of lying. Your a coward pure and simple. I have a stake in Israel, you just want to see it destroyed
58. #56 thats the point, London prices, Tel Aviv service.
am am   (02.10.14)
Israeli supermarkets, Harrods prices, shuk services..
59. Maybe Anton the Asiatic settler of Constantinople...........
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (02.10.14)
worry about the Imperialist Turkey economy bubble about to burst big time. Turks return to Mongolia! Freedom for Kurdistan, Hatay, Anatolia back to Armenian Natives and end Cyprus illegal occupation!
60. Symbolic gestures
Jacob Edelman ,   NEW York,USA   (02.10.14)
One would assume that this is more a symbolic gesture than anything else. Harping on this issue, and the fact that this is "INSURANCE" against (any) future dangers belittles the existence of Israel and help somehow perpetuate the notion and impression that jews in general prefer perpetual wandering rather than settling in lands they call their biblical heritage? WOW !!!
