Why do you keep calling it a 'Nazi art trove' or describe it as 'looted by the Nazis', Hildebrand Gurlitt was the looter that's a fact you can't deny, his maternal grandmother was Jewish that makes him Jewish.

And there's the fact that the 'trove' in question was legitimately acquired. But hey, everything to spur a little more unfounded and undeserved moral outrage and to give the crowd a reason to put on the purer than snow blanket. Even though the lot of them would not hesitate to turn their neighbours over themselves and would do a lot worse if they could. Doesn't this make me an anti-semite? I guess it does. It's still true, nonetheless.

He was on the Confiscation Committee to loot art from abandoned Jewish homes. Hildebrand Gurlitt was later deemed a victim of the Nazis due to his Jewish heritage.

If taking an advantage of circumstances like looting museums flashing Goebbels' warrant, 'buying' for nothing from owners on the way to board the train with two suitcases per person limit you can call 'legitimately acquired' ,... By the way he was not the only one, a few other of his homies in the art collection business prior to war were active in occupied Europe supplying the loot using their own smuggling network to their Jewish partner in NYC (that 'emigrated' to US before the war) and selling it in his gallery until 1954. They all survived the war and died unbothered while Wiesenthal was chasing goyim cooks from concentration camps.
