1. Erdogan demands lifting of Gaza blockade
CJK   (02.13.14)
erdogan has always demanded the lifting of the gaza blockade. israel will not lift the blockade under any conditions.
2. #1 the blockade
(02.13.14)
Erdogan supported the Brotherhood against Egypt and Saudi wishes, so they aren't going to lift the blockade they have imposed on Gaza just to please him. Fortunately for Hamas, Israel lets food and fuel into Gaza despite the Egyptian / Saudi blockade.
3. It's about time Bibi showed some backbone !
barbara ,   Haifa Israel   (02.13.14)
4. #1 Correct
Avi Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (02.13.14)
But facts don't matter, only opinion. When I see an article like this on yNet under 'Ynetnews' (no author's name), or terms like "a source familiar with the talks", I know it's been bought and paid for but the 'Open Season on Netanyahu' gang.
5. weapons blockade to gaza won't be lifted !

7. Reconcile @$20m:keep blockade, regime change
norbus ,   Jerusalem   (02.13.14)
Give Erdogan a victory on his way out. Turks since Attaturk, will not bend to the will of an emotional Walter Mitty
8. Let Turkey go to hell
john   (02.13.14)
It's Turkey who should apologise and pay compensation to those brave Israeli commandos who were injured . It's Turkey's citizens with the support of their government who have instigated and illegally despatched these cowards into the legally blockade waters of Gaza . These cowards were repeatedly warned by the Israeli Navy to not try to break the blockade in which the results of their of their actions we all know .Turkey if fully responsible for the deaths of their citizens sent by Erdogan and for the Israeli wounded.
9. You can't continually surrender
Rod ,   Fargo N.Dakota   (02.13.14)
The turks keep on raising the bribe money they want. Now the turks see Israel consented to the bribe they now want Gaza opened.Whats next Netanyahu crawling on his knees to the sultan Erdogan. What kind of agreement does Israel want a subservient agreement that won't last
10. Turkey can go to blazes!
Wise Saba ,   Western Negev   (02.13.14)
Bibi has good reason to worry, this is a disgrace. Turkey should be apologizing to us & paying us compensation.

anton ,   istanbul   (02.13.14)
how much you want for the murdered israelis on mavi marmara, please dont be shy on the amount
12. U can't steal their land and lift the blockage.
Zy   (02.13.14)
13. As usual, no talkbacker thinks about Israel
Daniel   (02.13.14)
As always, the talkbackers (most of whom don't live in Israel) are taking a position designed to hurt Israel as much as possible. Is it frustrating to pay money for people who died because of their own actions? Yes, of course it is. We can all agree on that. But is 20 millions a big sum for friendly relations with Turkey? No, it's a ridiculously low sum seen to how much more a bad relationship could cost. Once again, people sitting in the US or the UK oppose any middle ground. They won't suffer the consequences, it's ordinary Israelis who suffer. And a deal with Turkey, the most important military actor in the region, is definitely in Israel's interest, no matter how bad we may think its regime.
14. Mr Prime MInister: Stop kissing the Turks butt!
Jim Yakamoto ,   My Country   (02.13.14)
As a center-rightist you are humiliating Israel just as Obama has humiliated the United States! Time to tell Erdogan to go to hell and STOP Turkish Airlines from using Israel's airspace just as the Turks did to our airlines! Obama sold us out to the Turks but Erdogan is still on the side of those who want to destroy our country and our people!
15. When erdogan recognises the Armenian Genocide…..
Brett L ,   JHB RSA   (02.13.14)
I would support the opening of the gaza border. Israel has apologised, and very nearly offered compensation!! what has turkey done to recognise their role in the mavimara disaster. They should seeing as the process started there. What a hypocritical tyrant erdogan is!!
16. TRUTH isErdogan's demand to end Gaza blockade is preventing
Scott ,   Ramat Gan   (02.13.14)
a deal. It has nothing to do with Netanyahu's fear of reaction from the right-wing. Ynet needs to stop reporting opinions as facts & selectively leaving important information out of its articles.
17. Anton let me remind you
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (02.13.14)
How much did Turkey pay to the Jewish Armenian victims of Varlik Vergisi ? Nothing. Did Turkey at least compensate the value of the properties of the Armenians forced to exile? No. Your sarcasm was not only uncalled for but it works against Tutkish interest. Especially this year of 2014 that is the 100 year anniversay of the start IOC the Armenian Exile.

anton ,   istanbul   (02.13.14)
correction the desicion to stop el als flights to turkey was israels not turkeys and the reason for it was turkey said no more armed air marshals will be allowed on plane( since 9 turks were killed with israeli guns i think thats reasonable request) :) israel did not like it and stopped the flights
19. Daniel #13
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (02.13.14)
I agree with you and I am an American living on NY. Most Amercan Jews are also on the same opinion. Israel's major strength - more than its military - has been and must continue to be her diplomacy and alliances. Military capabilities are there to power the diplomacy. Turkey is an portent regional power and a way must be found to improve relations. 20 million dollars is a price to pay out of the Israelis pockets but a nessecity for peace.
20. Turkey's help with PA peace process, very valuable to Israel
Michael ,   California, USA   (02.13.14)
The sum of money they are asking in compensation is a very small price to pay for such help. Turkey should be asked to commit to helping Israel and Palestinians with bringing the peace negotiations to a happy conclusion by April 2014.
21. #13, do you honestly believe it will makea difference?
Danny   (02.13.14)
That whilst Erdogan is in power, that Israel will have "friendly" relations with Ankara?
22. Yes they will
Sarah B ,   Tel Aviv/London   (02.13.14)
The reunification talks in Cyprus has begun again And that gas off Israel's shores? Guess where it is rooted on it's way to Europe. So to say Israel won't lift the siege of Gaza under any circumstances is typical settler bluster as the world changes around them
23. #18
(02.13.14)
The nine Turks killed were IHH activists who had attacked the IDF. The killing was self-defense even by Turkish law. By the way, what can you tell us about that IHH iin Syria killing Christian and Alawi civilians?
24. Anton # 18
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (02.13.14)
In Aug 13, 1976 - the day when my mother was flying to Bruxelles from Yesilkoy airport an El Al flight was attacked by George Habash terrorists. # people were killed one of them Harold Rosenthal (whom my family knew in person) an aid to US Representative Jacob Javits, and many wounded. Knowing the quality of security 9or the lack of it) in Turkish airports I think it is reasonable for Israel to have their own armed security for their passengers in Turkey after such incidents as well as the brutal murder of Israeli ambassador Efraim Elrom. At the time there was still death penalty in Turkey but these terrorists' sentences were reduced to life in prison. I am not sure what happened to them ever since but I suspect they have been released.
25. Israel vs Turkey
Brod ,   USA   (02.13.14)
There is no need to have relations with Islamist-Jihadist country like Turkey, etc.
26. #20 they have been so helpful so far
Danny   (02.13.14)
27. To: No. 18
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.13.14)
Actually, the weapons used were American manufactured M-16 rifles. Yet Turkey allows armed American air marshals on United States flights. I think it is a reasonable assumption that Erdogan is lashing out at Israel because he was humiliated by the entire episode of the MAVI MARMARA, and most particularly by the Palmer Report. And no, we won't sell Turkey natural gas at below market rates. If anything, every time Erdogan opens his mouth, the price goes up. So you can keep paying the grossly inflated rates charged by Russia and by Azerbaijan. We don't care. We have more business than we need.
28. Turkey and a peace process
Jez ,   Netanya   (02.14.14)
come on Michael. In the foreign relations field Erdogans achievement has been to quarel with all his neighbours - Greece, Cyprus, Syria, Israel,Iran and Egypt. Peace is not one of his strong suits.
