So he is claiming that he is not a convicted criminal who should have been locked up and not eligible to run for office? I would love for one of these articles to state what he was originally convicted of, for what jail term, and when he was due to be released.

He should have issued a pardon for himself when he was in office. He neglected to do that .... and is thus eligible to be hanged. Quite a mistake, that, but it speaks rather eloquently to his arrogance. He'll pay for it.
