I totally agree with whiteandred and his answer to this situation that you can read below: Have these Parliamentarians’ forgotten that it was GERMANY that started the WAR and caused the Holocaust and that the NAZIS WERE GERMAN? Poland was on the winning (Allied) side during WW2 but the country lost the war. Poland had the greatest percentage of its population killed and suffered widespread destruction. 90% of Warsaw was rubble. Poland was betrayed by the Allies to 45 years of Soviet oppression and economic stagnation. After the war, it remained occupied by the Russian Red Army. It is also a sad and unfortunate fact that over 37% of the directors of the hated Polish Communist Secret Police were... Jewish. Poland had to rebuild itself after the war. But hey, let's persecute democratic Poland for crimes and confiscations done by German Nazis, Soviet Communists and the "Allied" powers. This letter asking for restitution should have been sent to Berlin or Moscow. Washington and London also having some responsibility. People also forget (or do not know about) the 1.5 MILLION Poles who were deported (by cattle truck) from Eastern Poland to Siberian Slave Labour camps by the Soviets and that the cosy cartel of US, UK and USSR - illegally - moved Polish Borders westwards leaving, for example, the historic Polish city of Lwow in the Soviet state of Ukraine. Did the Poles get any compensation? NO. Incidentally, the Allies were also responsible for the biggest ethnic cleansing in history when 10-12 MILLION Germans were evicted from their lands. It is also slightly hypocritical requesting compensation when Israel keeps/kept expanding settlements onto Palestinian lands. Did the Palestinians in Gaza or on the West Bank get compensation from Israel perhaps instead of a massive security barrier wall? It is very complicated. Meanwhile Polish workers in the UK are being made into political footballs whilst they are very busy reducing the UK national debts by paying UK taxes. Apparently in the warped minds of politicians it is OK to pay taxes and NI but this does not entitle a small percentage to any benefits. These benefits have to be paid to the Brits - some of whom have never had a job or paid taxes. If you consider that these hard working Polish people were educated in their own country and if their children are indeed in Poland then there is no burden on the UK education or health system.
