1. Abbas - an Arab land thief, imperialist, colonialist...
(03.07.14)
...Holocaust denier and terrorist - he will never change.
2. Pals just don't get it.............
Memphis Slim ,   Memphis, TN - USA   (03.07.14)
The longer they wait to make an agreement, the more building will take place in the suburbs east of Jerusaluem in the West bank - why call them settlements? That has a colonial connotation to it. In any ot her part of the world, it's a town or suburb. Back to the subject: 20 years from now, there will have to be another formula for a Pals state - either Gaza and a chunk of Sinai or Jordan. Simple as that.
3. Good - I don't accept your existence, either !
barbara ,   Haifa Israel   (03.07.14)
4. jewish state
caleb ,   brooklyn   (03.07.14)
Thank you mr. abbas you are doing us a great favour!
5. #2 respect Abbas
(03.07.14)
Every single Israeli leader since 1992 has lied to get elected, and then implemented concessions that have led to thousands of dead Israelis. Not one Israeli leader has been honest about his aims. Abbas is the democratically elected leader of the PLO. He has never betrayed so much as one article of the PLO Charter, or not implemented any decision of the PNC. Unlike the untrustworthy Israeli leaders who betray their voters, Abbas perfectly follows his voters' wishes.
6. So Israel has to accept a people since 1964 A.D.
michael   (03.07.14)
but Abbas refuses to recognize a people that are 4,000 years old. oh well, so much for mutual recognition.
7. Palestinians were Jews
RayS ,   NH,USA   (03.07.14)
PA people who refuse to accept Israel as a Jewish State should be careful. THEY have no right to call their state Palestine. They have NO historical right. I clearly recall in WW2 ,in Italy , the Palestine Unit that fought along side us was Jewish -Not an Arab in the bunch did I see from Anzio to the northern border.
8. Israel is on the maps. Palestine is a 'dream'. Keep dreaming
Richard ,   The Hague   (03.07.14)
9. Might Abbas be the problem, Mr. Obama?
David ,   Hartford USA   (03.07.14)
Abbas is toeing the jihadist-Khartoum line: no recognition, no peace, no talks. So what else is new? The Muslim block doesn't want any infidels in the Land of Islam. And even though the Muslims took Palestine by force centuries ago, the fact that Israel took it back by legal means (and force on many occasions), doesn't matter to the jihadists. This singularly proves that Abbas does not want peace. He wants to dismember Israel any way he can get it. Time for Kerry and Obama to throw in the towel since Abbas is just another Muslim terrorist. Israel should draw the border, build a wall, and forget the people on the other side. Let the Palestinians call it a 'state.' And when they continue to send rockets over the wall, Israel will have every right to march in and kick them out to Jordan.
10. Laughable.Palestinians think they run the world.
Sam ,   Canada   (03.07.14)
Palestinians make demands as if they think they run the world. In effect they have achieved nothing and their only contribution to the world is terror. The Palestinians are lucky they are being offered a state and if they want to play hard to get they will get nothing. That is the way things are shaping up.
11. 70 Islamic states, 300 Christian states,
BUTSeriously ,   Sydney   (03.07.14)
25 Buddhist states, 3 Hindu states, 10 Atheist states, One Jewish state: CATASTROPHE! Which is the apartheid state again?
12. The Way Forward
Jason, Ph.D. ,   Charlotte, USA   (03.07.14)
Instead of just being reactive, it is time for Israel to be proactive. It should unilaterally decide where the border should be and announce this. However, it should further announce that it will withdraw from the land outside these announced borders if and when there are ironclad agreements for NATO to be deployed in these territories. These ironclad agreements must allow Israel to re-enter territority if there are rocket attacks on Israel. Israel should then annex the major settlement blocks. However, at least one Arab neighborhood in Jerusalem should be allocated to the Palestinian state. Israel should futher announce that it will only vacate the settlements in lands allocated to the Palestinian state if the EU helpls to pay for this reallocation. What does all of this accomplish? It takes pressure off Israel and puts it on the EU and the Palestinians, without any decline in Israeli securitjy. It also allows Israel to go ahead and annex land that everyone knows is going to stay Israeli. Any comments gentle readers?
13. Abbas is a puppet.....no respect to a doll wioth strings
benjy   (03.07.14)
14. PA citizens
James ,   USA   (03.07.14)
Did anyone notice Eygpt is stripping palestinian citizenship for those they consider revolutionary? Does that apply in Israel? No votes, no problem.
15. #12 add on
Amos ,   Canada   (03.07.14)
I like your idea with one caveat. All Israeli Arabs that do not swear allegiance to Israel are to be relocated by the EU, at their expense, to the territories
16. Is that statement written in stone
Arnold-Canada ,   Montreal   (03.07.14)
or is it a bargaining statement. As it is not the first time stated and he is so proud of himself then I take it as being written in stone. Therefore as there is no negotiating that point the rest of the terms are moot. Please end this charade now Bibi.No more talks till a serious leader steps forward from the ranks of the Palestinians.
17. Enough already!
Gray Eagle ,   USA   (03.07.14)
No recognition, No Palestinian state. Plain and simple. Or, in the alternate, expulsion of these terrorists to where they truly belong, Jordan.
18. Israel, a Jewish State-UN Res. 181
Abe ,   Santa Barbara, USA   (03.07.14)
Abbas and his minions ought to read UN resolution 181 (Nov. 29, 1947). The words describing modern Israel as "the Jewish State" occur no less than eleven times. Of course, the Arabs of British Mandatory Palestine rejected UN Resolution 181 and its reference to both the Jewish State and its counterpart, the Arab State, in the area prescribed. Abbas' rejection of "the Jewish State" of Israel 66 years later is a prime example of the late great Abba Eban's statement, "The Arabs never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity."
19. I fully agree with Abbas!
Dov ben David ,   Eilat, Israel   (03.07.14)
Who is he to determine whether we are Jews or not. Just see that the Palestinians refugees will go to the land they are given!!!
20. Peace will come,,,,,
alsky ,   toronto   (03.07.14)
when Muslims give up the dream of the Islamic Caliphate and recognize Israel as the homeland of the Jews
21. #9 More Than A Hint Re Your Question
joyce fraser ,   USA   (03.07.14)
So here we have it - something that was known by many for quite some time. Could it be the Luchnik Logic? No more Israeli concessions and no mare ceding land, until a clear, ironclad, and verifiable agreement is reached, thereby eliminating Israel's "existence-risking benevolence" toward enemies and ill-wishers.
22. Israel as a Jewish state
Jerry ,   Highland Park USA   (03.07.14)
Recognition of Israel is critical, but the insistence on "Israel as a Jewish State" is recent. Israel is a place for the ingathering of Jews, but is a multi-religious, multi-ethnic state, and should simply be recognized as Israel, with secure borders, etc. This is a made-up issue: deal with borders, security, Jerusalem, "right of return"; don't create an unnecessary distraction.
23. fine-no deal
salim   (03.07.14)
no recognition of israel as the jewish state and israel soverignty over the jordan vvalley and ridges, then no deal. You are free to pursue other channels. of course any subterfuge and incitment will be punished by deportment to arab countries or worse.
24. like your attitude abbas :))
les ,   canada   (03.07.14)
this is just the right reason for israel not to even consider a "two state solution". now please go, and tell it to kerry/obama...face to face.
25. Laughable.Palestinians think they run the world.

Palestinians make demands as if they think they run the world. In effect they have achieved nothing and their only contribution to the world is terror. 26. another Obama success is flushed down the sewer
ghilmeini ,   usa   (03.07.14)
this was predictable as it was inevitable.
27. #9 David in Connecticut
JW ,   Florida, USA   (03.07.14)
Very well stated! Couldn't have said it better myself!
28. Proof that Abbas has no intention of ending the conflict
Scott ,   Ramat Gan   (03.07.14)
We should not be surprised that someone who did has masters thesis in Holocaust denial refuses to recognize the Jewish state. His refusal to do so means as soon as he gets Judea & Samaria he will start making demands on Jaffa, Haifa, Acre & the rest of Israel.
29. What a waste of time!
Maurice ,   Montreal   (03.07.14)
Kerry, why don't you go and have a good time with your grand children! You are wasting your time!
30. No State At All
James ,   USA   (03.07.14)
Abbas thinks the UN will give him what he wants. It will never happen. The UN cannot unilaterally draw borders, order Isreal to give up water, electricity, open borders for trade or even allow worship at the soon to come 3rd temple. etc. If he even dreams of going that route, he will create a state for the unheard of people when they fade into history.
