1. Bad hotels are expensive
Joseph wallin ,   Brooklyn NY   (03.10.14)
The saddest part of this story is the fact that hotels in Jerusalem are old, ugly, and feature awful service. Get your act together!
2. Well: had the service quality been there:we'd deserve it!
tom ,   tel aviv   (03.10.14)
After all: World has an unhealthy fixation with Jews, so the privilege of "sleeping with/among" us should come at a premium. As for Jewish tourists: there shouldn't be any. We should all be living "at home" (nice thought, right?) Just like: "World Peace" or "Arab Democracy".
3. 5 Star Hotels??? Ha ha
(03.10.14)
5 star hotels in Israel are so sad. Swimming pool...check, Restaurant...check, etc. This is how they arrive at 5 star. Don't expect anything other than the bare minimum for 95% of the 5 star hotels in Israel. Do expect to pay as if you are in Paris, Manhattan or some other place that knows what 5 stars really means.
4. Try Airbnb instead
Avi Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (03.10.14)
Unlike our greedy hotel industry, some of the best value accommodations in Israel can be found on Airbnb.
5. Hotels in Israel are in the pretend
Al   (03.10.14)
business. They know nothing of customer service, cleanliness and proper food preparation. Pretty sad. Most Jewish tourists who come to Israel do so to visit family. The real victims here are the real tourists who more often than not do not return because of lousy service.
6. Hotels are very expensive in Israel
peter pan ,   Paris France   (03.10.14)
There are a lot of 3 star hotels but even in those hotels the prices are too high. Israel is not for the average tourist or a back pack tourist, everything is so expensive unless you have a relative to lodge you and feed you.
7. Israeli hotels
World Traveler   (03.11.14)
OK so you don't get the best bang for your buck (try the US for that), but you get the Holy Land...forget the accomodations. Eat the shakshuka, enjoy the other great food, enjoy the scenery, visit all the historic places, swim in the Meditteranean, Red Sea, Dead sea and have some fresh dates. OK Israeli hoteliers know the demand is greater than the supply, so there you go...!
8. Cos we're worth it, as the ad. says
L.O.Real   (03.11.14)
We Israelis have huge discounts through coupons, especially off season Tourists? They love it here, so they come (back). Everyone can find deals to suit their budget, just look online. The problem is green eyed jealousy of those who can afford luxury.
