Where were the haredi during the 1948 War, the 1967 War, and the Yom Kippur War? Would their prayers and study have saved Israel from annihilation? Israel is still surrounded by enemies bent on the destruction of Israel and expulsion of its Jewish inhabitants. They can serve their nation by doing their military service, like other Jewish youngsters. The haredi now have an opportunity to demonstrate clearly their superiority by not only doing the military training, but also by praying and studying during their spare time. This would truly place the ultra-Orthodox sect at the top of Israeli citizenry.

If the Chassidim don`t like the new draft law they should go back to Europe where they preached "no resistance". Not even a pocket knife was permitted during the Holocaust. "Pray and God will help us" was the daily order. We do not need their advice any more.
