1. Sufis v Salafis v Brotherhood

At the bottom of it all is the fact that there is a contention not only for hegemony in the Arab and Islamic world, family and marriage ties beyond the Gulf states, the support of the Syrian rebels and the "Palestinian" cause, but also who represents the true "Orthodox" form of Islam. Sufis and Salafists represent opposite ends of the spectrum but both claim to represent true "ultra-Orthodox" Sunni Islam. They both win out of the crushing of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Obama can't end the Syrian civil war you idiot. The US never funded the rebels that much, and never gave them the anti-aircraft weapons they needed to defeat Assad. Saudi wanted Assad to fall, and Sunnis to rule Syria, but now they fear radical Islam will win, and fear they will come for them next (hence pressuring Quatar to stop support) Al Qaeda still hate the US, and only a moron would condider them allies with Obama. They want to rule an Islamic Calpiahate across the entire Middle East. Assad wants to go back to the 'good old days' when his family and secret police ruled Syria. This is never going to happen. Assad only has 20% of the popuation supporting him. the other 80% are not going to say 'oh, you killed 140,000 of us, we give up please rule us again'. No they will try to fight to the end, but they can't win either because Assad has all the best weapons and they don't. The Syrian civil war will end when both sides are totally exhaused, and have carved out in blood their own regions in Syria and agree not to attack each other - like South Korea & North Korea.

MB, a terrorist organization , can use its military to make political gains, as it did in Egypt. This is what the military fought, and should win. Hizbollah is the next terror.org that should not be allowed to join the political process. May I be bold enough to say that the 100 billion dolls Ayatollah should be the next terror.org that should be banned from politics.
7. #3 Obama's indifference and perfidy
David V. ,   Sydney   (03.14.14)
...has greatly exacerbated and radicalised the situation. Many pro-opposition Syrians view the Al-Qaeda spin-off ISIS no differently from the regime and its allies like Hezbollah and PFLP who collaborate with Assad in doing the killing for him. And Obama and Putin seem to think all is fine when Arabs don't!
