1. Nowhere near enough
MIrriam ,   Tiberias   (03.24.14)
Property prices in our section of the Galilee doubled in the last five years. It is going to take more than this to really help. They should slash the unbelivable red tape and tax upon tax regarding home purchases. They should allow more 'green building' and they should free up more land for individuals to buy at at least half the present cost, instead of only selling to contractors.
2. A very simple solution
Alf Red ,   Londonistansk   (03.24.14)
There is a very simple solution lying just under feet of the Govt. Provide the land without the ransom demanded by the Land Authority (currently about 50% of apartment price, as we are enlightened by real estate professionals). Invite the Chinese contractors to build whole new towns. Then we shall get new dwellings in abundance, and at prices comparable to prices in Gaza or in Turkey - four times cheaper than today's over-bloated sinful, shameful prices that milk our people dry. What? The housing market will crumple? The rents will fall through the floor? SERVES THEM RIGHT! People will have decent roof over their family's heads - that's what is the priority, not the moneybag's happiness!
3. #2 I could NOT have said it better
Vered, Israel   (03.24.14)
4. Why now?
Shai ,   IL   (03.24.14)
Why wasn't the PM so smart last term when he didn't have a finance minister and housing minister proposing ideas to do what he should have done?
5. The ONLY way is to Increase supply
Gerry ,   Modiin   (03.24.14)
Anything else is just show.
6. BUILDING IS WINNING!!!
(03.24.14)
More homes means more competition more homes means more Jews and more jobs in Israel. More homes also means more defense and more Jews to defend Israel. A win win for all Jews. pals can leave Israel now, their charade is over and, so is their aid welfare money. building israel while PALS beg for crumbs.!!!!
7. none of us is getting it - they want us 2 move 2 West Bank!

have you people seen how much money they dump over there?! Wow! tis amazing.
8. Set-aside
Bryan ,   New York, NY   (03.25.14)
In NYC, we have a program where builders of new apartments, whether for rental or purchase, are required to set-aside 20% of the units for low and middle income tenants, with percentages for people with mobility impairments especially disabled veterans (on the less desired lower floors), teachers, fire fighters, police officers, etc. The programs works pretty well.
9. My 2 cents
zelig ,   memphis   (03.26.14)
Perhaps we could get some architects to come up with housing that could be made in gigantic 3-d printers-sort of like a gigantic version of a microchip factory. And if that idea won't fly, then perhaps we could get some architects to design apartments that could be put together like lego blocks using the labor of the prospective home or apartment purchaser. One thing though..no royal british architects...they're boycotting our dear beloved Israel They can stick building the skyline of Dubai ; )
10. About time...dont you think
Koose E Mack ,   NY US   (03.27.14)
The good people of Israel deserve a break. Salaries there are approx. 1/4 of what they are in the US; yet prices of food and housing are the same. How do people live under such financial duress. Though I am not a socialist; there are ample legal ways and means to make housing affordable for the working families. Also, food and electricity prices should be capped by the government! Israel is a nation of many great souls...they should have a little nachat ruach and the government can and should insure that the mafia land taxes are cut. Am Yisrael Chai....
11. Bring Building Company Haredim Workers
Zechariah   (03.30.14)
Haredim who are not Geniuses or immensely Motivated can do some Building with Parapets a Pichuach Zmefesjh demand and In the Regulated Talmudic economy Still make just Gain.
12. Smaller apartments
Ronnie ,   Hod Hasharon, Israel   (03.31.14)
In Tel Aviv and other places they have illigally taken apartment and split them up into 2 or more. Why can't new batchlor or 2 room apartment be built by instructions from the government. This way a young couple can buy one and 5 years later when they have children transfer the morgage to a bigger home.
13. ILA is the culprit of abnormal prices
Philippe ,   Raanana   (03.31.14)
Stop paying this ransom to ILA, common people are crumbling under financial duress.ILA (the state coffers ) must stop gouging common people .Where the 5 M of Jabotinsky ? Migour is essential with Mazon .
14. Solution - there needs to be more housing built everyhwhere
Scott ,   Ramat Gan   (03.31.14)
There needs to be more building everywhere - not just in the central region surrounding Tel Aviv which is already overcrowded. The VAT discount should be given to anyone purchasing a home in the north, south or in Judea & Samaria. This is the best way to lower housing prices.
