Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.24.14)
Those markets will not go away were Israel to annex Judea and Samaria. And now that Russian natural gas is off the grid, Israel has the perfect opportunity to leverage Europe. And why not?
2. Dead Antisemitic forecast. No BDS, UNSC, ICC, NATO, US GI's.

Mira ,   Vienna   (03.24.14)
Some 150 Israeli Arabic-speaking Christians on Sunday demonstrated outside the European Union mission in Tel Aviv, demanding that the international community stop nitpicking against Israel and start combatting the severe persecution of Christians everywhere else in the Middle East.

7. Israel needs Europe more than Europe needs Israel
David   (03.24.14)
If all trade between Israel and Europe ceased, Israel's economy would be in freefall. Tens of thousands of jobs would be lost. For Europe? Hardly a drop in the bucket. But this article misses the point about BDS. It's not primarily about economics, it's about culture. Apartheid South Africa had a pretty good economy right up until the end. That's not what made them give in, it was cultural isolation. Does Israel identify with the Arab world? Not really. Does it identify with China or India on a cultural basis? How many Israel can mention 3 major literature works from India? Israel sees itself as a Western country. The argument used to be that "we could lose Europe but America will always be at our side". This is no longer assured, at least as the GOP gets wiped out demographically and the democrats remain in power for generations. We all remember the 2012 DNC convetion and the "three no's".
8. "three European heads of state have visited Israel in the

the past few months. " So what? They also shook the perpetually outstretched hand of the worlds greatest welcher in Ramallah. And it would be nice if the EU and US would actually take the "two state solution" seriously: The Jewish State of Israel on the west side of the Jordan River and the Jordanian/ "palestinian" confederation on the east side of the Jordan River. Little Abdullah may just have to pack up his Hashemites and go back to Arabia where his family came from.

By virtue of Europe's demographic and economic size, it is no doubt an economic power-broker. Israel is a an advanced industrialized nation, but tiny, and therefore vulnerable. However, 69% of Israel's exports go to non-European countries, and this percentage is expected to rise, since Europe is contracting demographically and economically. The reason why EU maintains strong ties with tiny Israel is because Israel despite its lack of demographic and territorial size, is a technological, academic and scientific power house, which Europe badly needs if Europeans still want to remain competitive and relevant in this world, and to be able to offer the world high tech and science based products. So while I agree with you on the notion that Israel - due to its lack of size, needs the EU more than EU needs Israel, I can still detect a biased and politically colored motive in your talkback. It's almost as if you demand that Israel "obeys" the EU in order to satisfy the Europeans' malign plans of undermining Israel as a Jewish majority state within defensible borders in our ancient homeland. When it comes to our existence as a sovereign and independent Jewish nation state, we will not sacrifice Israel's existence, even if that results in a EU boycott. A boycott is one thing, but our destruction is something else. Choosing between an EU boycott of Israel, or Israel being submissive to the EU and committing national suicide is like choosing between pest and cholera, but a boycott is preferable to our destruction. However, Israel's economy is intertwined with the EU and the rest of the world, so I think that a boycott of Israel from a European perspective, is neither desirable nor realistic. Speaking of Culture: Culture is irrelevant. Business requires business partners and customers willing to pay for your products and services, and Israel has that in excess in Asia, USA, Canada, Africa, Australia, Russia and Latin America. What produces profit are customers and business partners - not European "intellectuals" sitting at cafés in Paris or Vienna debating metaphysics and literature.

How are you going to deliver your gas in your pockets or buckets? Iranians can deliver it in their paid off tankers for a half of your price the same way they're supplying Switzerland ,... By the way if you happen to miss it Russian gas is flowing flowlessly so far and in case you don't know they have ready to go an auxiliary pipeline on the bottom of Baltic to Germany and acouple existing ones in working condition from commie times going through Lithuania, Belarus, Poland to former E. Germany ,...

Larry ,   Northridge, usa   (03.25.14)
No one is less principled and more self interested than a european. As long as it's in their interest to trade with Israel there will be no meaningful boycott. As relations with russia deteriorate, Israeli gas becomes more and more significant. So much of Israel's exports are high tech components and apps of their own products, that make these products competitive in the world market, that it would harm them to forgo these Israeli products. Israel easily could find new markets instead of nokia for example in china or india. Its not going to happen. Their greed exceeds their anti-semitism.
14. 2 state solution???
Sam ,   montreal   (03.25.14)
"They are also making the two-state solution that an overwhelming majority of both Palestinians and Israelis support" Stats please. I cannot count more than one in a hundred Israeli that supports unconditionally a 2-state solution. Right of return? East Jerusalem? Jewish state?..........
15. To nr 9 Are Poles "native" to America?
Alexander ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (03.25.14)
I don't Think so. Several ancient civilizations in the Middle East make direct references to ancient Israel and the ancient Jews and you still can't provide a single evidence that our history is a "fairytale" nor can you prove any existence of any "Palestinian" people. Not a single evidence of ancient Israel except for Hadrian? 1) Factually incorrect, since there are dozens of archaelogical evidences of ancient Israel beyond or beside Hadrian and 2) why do you personally care? and 3) what has this got to do with Kaganovich, Solomon, Jewish-Polish relations, German compensation to Jews for WW2 and "Palestinians? I bet it has a Connection to Israeli Lavi planes! We Jews are native to Israel. You can "challenge it" on a racist, anti-Semitic, politically biased and ideologically motivated basis with zero factual basis for your claims as much as you wish - but you can't change historical facts. You can hate Jews, but we're here to stay. Poland will vanish demographically from the face of the Earth - if that even matters to you. I just hope that one day you'll get your hatred out of your system and that all mankind can live as brothers and sisters. Singling out the Jews for hatred, racism and destruction and your racism and lies will not create better relations among men. And judging Israel because of our ethnicity implies that you don't consider Jews and non-Jews equal - as if the Jewish identity of the Jewish nation is a "crime". Speaking of nomads: being a nomad implies a socio-economic situation - not lacking a historical homeland. Speaking of nomads, you accuse Jews of being nomads and yet you don't want them in Poland because you're a racist. So you accuse Jews of being nomads yet you do everything you can to make them nomads. So who's crazy here? Yes yes - I know - it's "the Jews' fault", "look in the mirror", "you have been thrown out from several countries", "nobody invited you to Poland" (which is a false statement) etc, but you can't make any direct and explicit reference to any supposed crimes that the majority of Jews have supposedly committed to deserve this harsh treatment. Why not take a look in the mirror yourself? Do you consider yourself a good human being split? Who has given you authority to place yourself over others and judge everyone else? Speaking of nomads: millions of Americans move from state to state. Wouldn't that make them nomads? Most Americans are White Europeans and their ancestors came from Europe either decades or centuries ago. Wouldn't that make Americans nomads? Arabs in Europe aren't native to Europe. Wouldn't that make them nomads?
