1. So convenient to have....
Susan ,   USA   (03.25.14)
....a perpetual excuse to hate Jews. Those who keep Palestinian suffering on their agenda never speak of Palestinian responsibility or better still the responsibility of their very own leaders who do little if anything to better the lives of their people. The Arab league should be ashamed because throughout the Arab world, suffering and poverty and a thriving non democratic agenda is the rule of law. Furthermore, after the UN vote to 'allow' Jews a state, little was done by the outside to help make Israel become the first world nation it has become. Can't say that for the remainder of the Arab world where a weekly wage might be less that a big mac and fries. As a Jew the inception of a Jewish state has been a thorn in the side of more than just Arabs. Those who scream the loudest are the ones who have made the lives of Jews miserable since time immemorial.
2. UNWRA:
tiki ,   belgium   (03.25.14)
"Israel & Egypt should take into consideration the suffering of millions of Gaza Palestinians because of the blockade" Answer: Israel & Egypt took it into consideration! Reaction: It's a bit of a chutzpah of UNWRA to even open their mouth while rockets from Gaza are flying into Israel & where the poor people of Gaza vow to destroy Israel if it is the last thing they do! Conclusion: Everything stays as it is, until the poor people of Gaza decide to behave like humans and not like terrorists under the auspices of UNWRA.
3. Does Filippo knows that terror is a crime??
Anna M Sedda ,   Rome-Italy   (03.25.14)
Does Filippo knows that in the World needs to save innocent people in Gaza from a terrorist organisation called Hamas??? And why Filippo is helping a few bad terrorist man to stay in power in Gaza??? does Filippo knows that the Palestinians would be free if PA and Hamas man where normal and democratic people??? so,what is Filippo talking about??? We all know the Truth about Gaza,Hamas and PA terrorism; they are Gaza problem
4. When Gaza denounces terrorism...
Ivan ,   South Africa   (03.25.14)
UNRWA won't have to beg Israel and Egypt to remove blockades but unfortunately this will never happen...Mr Grandi sounds like a stuck record, write Gaza off and enjoy your retirement..
5. stop infantilizing gazians. they are responsible. elect a di
ralph   (03.25.14)
different government. they voted them in. and get this brain damaged un monkey off your back if you want to improve your life. his job depends upon your misery and staying a child. grow up.
6. The Arabs of Gaza ought to take into consideration the very
N.L.Katz ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (03.25.14)
lives of the Jews of Israel. And, so long as the lives of the Jews of Israel are being threatened, the Arabs of Gaza will not be normal. End of story!
7. overthrow hamas
real vision ,   usa   (03.25.14)
when the peaceful people of gaza eliminate hamas from their midst and accept israel as a neighbor, then changes can be made to alleviate palestinian suffering. Right now the suffering is caused by hamas who would rather use concrete blocks for tunnels rather than for housing.etc., etc or spend their aid money on weapons rather than factories that could actually produce something for gazans
8. Let 'em eat cake!
zelig ,   memphis   (03.25.14)
Let 'em eat felafel..or shwarma..or caviar.Let 'em buy clothes from Yves St. Lauren. But don't let 'em have anything that they can make missiles out of. Sorry my Italian friend,Jewish lives count ,too!
9. yes it is our fault
james ,   ny ny   (03.25.14)
Rockets fly in our direction and the people of gaza overwhelming voted to be represented by a terrorist organization. Let their arab brethren on the other side come to the rescue, But I don't think they want much to do with hamas either
10. UNRWA is obsolete - should be eliminated
Scott ,   Ramat Gan   (03.25.14)
There are refugees from many conflicts. But the Arabs are the only one who receive special treatment and continue to call descendants of people who fled their homes 66 years ago "refugees". The people living in Gaza, in the W. Bank, Lebanon are not refugees unless they are 66 years old or older & fled Israel. A refugee is defined as "a person who flees for refuge or safety". This does not apply to people born in a foreign country & refugees status cannot be inherited. It is absurd that 66 years after the Arabs lost the war they started against Israel that there is STILL a "United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East".
11. Sure
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.25.14)
Just as soon as they take into account the traumatized Israeli citizens who have been subjected to over 15,000 missile attacks and 30,000 mortar attacks in the past decade. Why should the lives of the Gazans be worth any consideration beyond the consideration that the Gazans have for Israelis? Funnily enough, I don't recall the UNRWA urging restraint upon Hamas, or Islamic Jihad, or any other terrorist group when missiles and mortars were being launched against Israeli civilians from Gaza. You ignored us then; there is absolutely not a single reason why we should pay attention to you now. Moreover, since the so-called "plight" of the people of Gaza is a product of their own actions, no, I have no compassion. But no one in their right mind has compassion for terrorist trash.
12. More of.....
Sergio ,   Tel Aviv   (03.25.14)
BLAH BLAH BLAH. Come on just get real and stop crying. Stop using civilians as human shields and explain them that Hamas isn't exactly the best option so they can finally get some sense in their minds.
13. Maybe if they stopped the terrorism....
Malone ,   Hfx   (03.25.14)
...the blockade issue might be eased...any of these lefties ever consider telling the pals that?
14. Blocking Arab terrorism is more important than Arabs suffer
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (03.25.14)
In Gaza Arab children with rosy cheeks and fat bellies roam the streets. Where is the suffering?
15. Grandi Mistake
Jordan Ariel ,   USA   (03.25.14)
The main reason for Gazan Poverty is the policies of its Government Hamas.
16. The leaders of Gaza...
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (03.25.14)
need to worry about their peoples security instead of stuffing their pockets at their own people expense. Those 1.8 million need to insist on new management. It's not Israel's or Egypt's fault for the mess in Gaza. Those 1.8 million people made thier own bed and now they cry because they have to lay in it. Recognize Israel as a Jewish state and honestly try to make peace and the blockade will dissapear. Until thin there is nothing to talk about. Don't blame Egypt or Israel for the problems the ersatz Pals have created.
17. Wrong address-- talk to Hamas
M. Davison ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (03.25.14)
Talk to Hamas about stopping the rockets shot into Israel and changing their Covenant. Maybe that will have an effect on Israel and Egypt's behavior towards an entity that is an enemy to both.
18. UN Approval of Terrorism
Marcohoe ,   Silver Barn, MN USA   (03.25.14)
If there were no rockets and other terrorism coming from Gaza there would not be a blockade. I don't remember hearing the UN criticizing those rockets. So they say it's OK? Gazans are spending a lot of money on terror tunnels. I guess it's time for the black helicopters to swoop in and depose Hamas. Make Gaza a showcase for UN Government. Soon everyone will want it.
19. Support for Hamas's Oppression
Ed ,   USA   (03.25.14)
It is people like Grandi who help to keep Hamas in power and so to continue their oppression of the Palestinian people. The blockade is over as soon as the Gaza government commits itself to respecting Israel's existence. This is what the UN is supposed to be about.
20. Wrong address, Grandi. Speak to those in power in Gaza.
Harry Wright ,   UK   (03.25.14)
From beginning to end, those are the ones responsible for the state of affairs in Gaza. Stop shifting blame to Israel and Egypt. Stop pretending that the bogus Palestinians are separate and apart from their leaders. The same people who are "suffering" are the same people who are at war with Israel and are engaging in violence against Egypt and Israel. The solution is in THEIR hands.Tell THEM to step up to the plate.
21. Millions ?
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (03.25.14)
They are less than 2 million . Another UN exaggeration
22. UN admin is rotten to the core
beryl   (03.25.14)
hamas kills eygptians in sinai and fires rockets and activates terror in Israel and judea. So bother countries have to protect themselves. In th emeantime israel provides transit for food and fuel while hamas occasionally fires rockets. UN is full of merde, with their top 2 screwballs, falk who is gone and pillay, a lawyer who should be thrown in jail for incitement.
23. Suffering? There are no "millions of Palestinians suffering"
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (03.25.14)
The Palestinians - in Gaza and in the so-called "West Bank" - get more aid per capita than anyone. And their education and health care provided. A recent report claims there are at least 1700 millionaires in Gaza - roughly 1 per 1000 residents. Gaza's shops are full, to the point that some were smuggling goods *out* through the tunnels into Egypt. Gaza has several 5-star hotels that advertise for tourists in Europe, a water park, and public pools. A Palestinian drone - really, a high-end toy with a camera - showed things in Gaza really aren't that bad. Indeed, a few years ago folks in Gaza blew a whole in the concrete fence on the Egyptian border and a few thousand went to tour in Egypt. They were surprised to discover they lived better than the average Egyptian! Even today the average lifespan is higher than that in Turkey. If Gaza wants to export, they can go through Egypt. And no, Grandi, that Israeli blockade is *not* illegal, as even a UN panel confirmed a few years ago.
24. Only commodity Gaza "exports" are killer Rockets
Alan ,   SA   (03.25.14)
Iran even sent some cement with rockets ...so that they could make tunnels700 metres long to kill and kidnap some Jews....although its possible that Rockets were for Al Sisi UNWRA is keeping Gazans in primitive beggar state of living ...
25. What about the Sinai Peninsula?
shmulke ,   w coast usa   (03.25.14)
"The military-backed government that toppled the Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas's ideological kin, in Cairo last year deems the Palestinian faction a security threat, although Hamas insists its hostility is directed exclusively at Israel." The Egyptian soldiers killed by Palestinian terrorists in Sinai show Hamas' contentions to be a baldfaced lie.
26. Nearly everything Hamas does
joyce fraser ,   USA   (03.25.14)
is not for constructive purposes. Hamas and other hate-and-murder organizations have done all they can to promote DESTRUCTIVE teachings, actions, behavior, etc, with nearly everything at their disposal!
27. It's up to Hamas
Mira ,   Vienna   (03.25.14)
to end the blockade from both Israel and Egypt! Looking at the fat bottoms of Hanyeh and his ilk I wonder about the suffering. Maybe they should try to use the lots of goods Israels brings in daily for their people and not to construct sophisticated terror tunnels and tens of thousands of missiles! Get lost UN!
28. anwra....WRONG
(03.26.14)
the israeli blockade on gaza IS NOT ILLEGAL AS GRADI CLAIMS. THE UN, two years ago specifically cleared israel of any illegality when it came to the gaza blockade. after the mavi marmara incident, the un security counsel specifically said that THE ISRAELI BLOCKADE OF GAZA IN NOT ILLEGAL AND ISRAEL HAS THE FULL RIGHT TO BLOCKADE GAZA AS AN ENEMY TERRITORY. the blockade therefore, is not illegal as this moron claims.
29. Let them eat rockets...
BUILD BABY BUILD!!!!   (03.26.14)
what was the cost of the 17,000 Gaza plus rockets fired into Israel? The cost is a clamp down on terrorists. They killed 16 Egyptian soldiers, hell, they kill everything that moves. KEEP BUILDING!!! ESCORT THE pals BACK TO JORDAN!!!!
30. Next time dont elect Nazi's in Green who vow
Jordan Is ,   Eastern Palestine   (03.26.14)
to kill all the Jews, as it says in their charter.
