No, Israel is going the LNG route. A little bit more in start-up costs, but partnered with an Australian outfit. Easy logistics. That, by the way, is why Erdogan has been gunning for Israel. He had practically spent all the money he was planning to earn by allowing pipelines to be built all over Turkey to provide natural gas to Europe (largely from Iraqi supplies, some Russian), and then the Europeans realized that Israel would short-sell natural gas to them. Turkey got royally pissed (not that anyone cares). Erdogan thought Israel would allow Turkey to participate in the natural gas finds. When that didn't happen, Turkey -- having abandoned its nuclear reactor plans (thank goodness; like Iran, Turkey is one large tectonic fault) -- got upset. They're also in a huge financial bind. He who laughs last, Cameron, laughs best. In this case, that would be Israel. Hope I didn't bore you too much. Pipelines carrying natural gas are as big a terrorist target as you can invent. Too big a risk for Israel, hence LNG, with the liquefying to take place comfortably offshore, well away from threats, foreign or domestic.

but not more than Erdogan pay his population when the army by mistake kill some Turks!

No, Bibi isn't acting under obama's orders, 'back seat bobbing head,' Barry's out of step and out of touch with reality. Bibi's learned the old arafat trick stall, stall, and then, stall some more. Best apart ISRAEL'S BUILDING Worst part? NOT BUILDING ENOUGH!!!! But, Israel has a cure for that.... LOL Up yours obummer!!!
35. # 29 LOL That's the trouble with Harri.
BIg bad Jew   (03.27.14)
Israel should have blown the ship to bits and charged Turkey with the toxic clean up of worth less, brainless terrorists. Maybe next time? KEEP BUILDING !!!! Turkey's half way to hell.

No, I'm afraid you are the one who is confused. The Palmer Report was commissioned by the United Nations at the request of Turkey. Mr. Palmer is not Jewish. Which begs the question: Which world do YOU inhabit?

Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.27.14)
The Palmer Report found that Israel's blockade of Gaza is both fully legal and internationally recognized. The blockade is how Israel maintains some measure of control over the flow of weapons to Gaza. The fact that 30,000 missiles and over 30,000 mortars have been launched at Israel from Gaza is the best proof that the blockade is both warranted and necessary. The people of Gaza are being victimized by the terrorist groups that they freely elected. But that does not in any way mitigate Israel's affirmative duty to protect and defend Israeli civilians from attack. Moreover, Israel sends plenty of free humanitarian aid -- tens of thousands of metric tons are trucked through on a twice-weekly basis. Gaza also receives FREE fresh water and FREE electricity from Israel. No bully points from the far right -- and not so far right -- for that. Most rational people believe that the only way to effectuate change in Gaza is for the people of Gaza to rise up and make their voices heard. By the way -- the MAVI MARMARA was found to be carrying absolutely no humanitarian aid -- just a box or two of expired over-the-counter medication and some mouldy old blankets. It should not have tried to breach Israel's fully legal and internationally-recognized blockade. Erdogan is fussing for some very practical reasons -- he was embarrassed quite openly and pointedly when it was revealed that the vessel's much-ballyhooed "humanitarian" venture was a sham. The other reason is that he is furious with Israel for torpedoing his natural gas pipeline ambitions (what, Israel should have failed to exploit its magnificent discoveries?) and then having the temerity to tell Erdogan that Turkey would not be allowed to participate in Israel's find. (Law of salvage prevails here: he who finds, owns it all, and can decide who may and may not share). Turkey's argument that it is a Mediterranean find is laughable. Let me put it this way: Norway and Scotland profit from the North Sea oil. Of all the other countries that abut the North Sea, how many participate in the profits? Zip, zilch, none. That's why Erdogan is sulking. Not only did the Israeli find torpedo his dream of natural gas pipelines criss-crossing Turkey in order to feed Europe, but Israel has declined to allow Turkey to participate in exploiting its natural gas find, and made a fool of him with the MAVI MARMARA episode.

So you say the Turks are formally out of the running for pipeline arrangements? Wise move, if true. Crazy to cut that lot in for any potential control or benefit from such assets.
40. Erdogan can go to hell, and leave us alone
Alon   (03.27.14)
What a smarthy arrogant sob. We don't need him to visit us ever. Hopefully Netanyahu isn't playing his game. He can say it was a miscommunication that got lost in the fascist Twitter blockade.
41. turkey owes Israel
mighty mouse ,   usa   (03.27.14)
an apology for having dirtbags on that ship armed with weapons and ready to confront israeli forces boarding the blockade running ship. Israel owes turkey nothing except sorry that this incident happened but if turkey did not provoke it these people would still be alive
42. Beware: Erdogan is a snake.
SG ,   Teaneck   (03.27.14)
He is in political trouble at home. An agreement with Israel where he can claim to his electorate that he bested Israel is just what he wants.

I suspect you're buying the latest load of Turkish taffy. Odds are this "report" is about as factual as a Grimm fairy tale.
44. # 23 Cameron this is not a legit story.
BIg bad Jew   (03.27.14)
Duh! No lifting of the blockade on Gaza ever. And, I doubt any where near this 'false article' and it's claim of $ 21 mill is accurate either. You know how ALL muslims lie.. right? BUSILY BUILDING ALLLL OF ISRAEL, BABY !!!
45. Gas
Mike ,   Tel Aviv   (03.27.14)
The only "gas" I see is coming from your comments. Just how much gas do you think is there? The way you talk one would think that Israel can supply gas to the whole world for ever. Efshar lakhshov.........
46. 21 million$ for 9 hooligans
Raphael ,   Netanya   (03.27.14)
Means 2.33 million per head. This would be a calculation base for the compensation of 45,000 Kurds and 2 million Armenians slaughtered by the turkish army.
47. $21M is a joke
George ,   San Francisco, USA   (03.27.14)
The figure of $21M is a total joke. At least that much should be given to the family of each victim plus additional funds for the destruction of property and pain and suffering to others victimized by Israel.

Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.27.14)
May we send the invoice for the pain, suffering, destruction of property, and psychological consequences to the civilian populations in Sderot, Ashdod, Ashqelon and environs to your attention?
49. To: Cameron at No. 39
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.27.14)
Completely. First of all, Turkey does not have the equity to self-insure, and the insurance costs alone for the building and operating a pipeline in Turkey are astronomical (the whole country is a major fault zone). Turkey was getting a little too obnoxious and strident; they had to be taken down a peg, so Israel hit where it always hurts the hardest -- in Turkey's economy and future. The Jewish state is not without significant resources, you know. And, nations don't have friends; nations have interests -- it is in economically troubled Europe's best interests to get natural gas cheaply and without incurring pass-along costs and logistical nightmares. Turkey got exactly what it deserved. Thought it was immune and that Europe would hop right onto the anti-Israel bandwagon. Did I mention that nations don't have friends; they have interests?

Even if the $21 million figure is correct -- not necessarily the case -- Turkey has lost prestige, reputation and approximately $130 billion in annual revenue because it challenged Israel. Israel is small -- but not without resources, intellect and ability. Turkey is very large -- but lacks everything that Israel has in abundance. Trust me -- they are laughing at Erdogan in the prime minister's office.
