The American people are very well aware of the plight of Jonathan Pollard. The petitions signed by the American people on Pollard's behalf could fill the Sistine Chapel. "World Citizen" indeed. Could the US explain for once what the USS Liberty was doing in the East Med during the 6-Day War? They never quite told the truth about that. All they did rail at Israel for "knowingly and deliberately attacking a US Naval warship." At first they denied that they even had any ships in the area. Then they lied about its presence there. They were so desperate to cover the whole thing up, but were happy in the end when every redneck in the US demanded that Israel pay the price for the attack. Until the US tells us the truth about the Liberty incident, I don't care what their feelings are about John Pollard. Release the guy. He's done his time, more than any other spy.

LBJ and every president after him never actually gave an explanation as to why the Liberty was there in the first place. At the time the US wasn't exactly an ally of Israel. It wasn't until 1968 that the US formally started backing Israel with military aid. The US was also against Israel's nuclear program, something Israel badly needed. Israelis are also pretty peeved at the US for demanding that they not shoot back at Iraq during the Gulf War. So if you Americans who want John Pollard to remain in prison still want Israel to release terrorists, people who have actually murdered innocent Israelis, maybe you'd like to cut a deal. Otherwise, the next barrage of rockets that comes our way will be met with a barrage of...take a guess.

The last thing we need is a hero's welcome for Pollard. He is an AMERICAN. If they release him, they should not let him leave the US - like we did to Vanunu. He's a traitor to his country. We don't need him here.

Pollard has served enough time. he should be released but not "in exchange" for terrorists. if one wanted to trade 1-for-1, maybe, that would be OK, if it were not for any murderer. don't make another stupid deal to release terrorists: IT GETS YOU NOTHING (but more threats to your security).

The only reason he is still languishing in prison is because he is Jewish. If he was of any other religion or ethnic background, he would have been freed years ago. How many Hispanic illegal criminals spend that many years in prison? Very few, if any. Pollard did not commit a violent crime. If not for him, we would have had a nuclear Iraq. He deserves a medal, not 30 years in prison.

if this thing is on the News and is talked about how Israel is intent on releasing this spy and it is part of Israels plan for "peace" I can assure you there will be alot of negative criticism against Israel in the US, not that Israelis seem to care about that

Pollard knew the dangers of spying for Israel. He is not worth the release of one more Arab terrorist. Enough is enough.

What will it take for Israel's leaders to understand they are being played like fools and blackmailed by Abbas, while the Palestinians give up nothing and then come back and demand more Israeli concessions. If Israel's politcal system allows for it, any party or leader that votes for more concessions must be punished at the ballot box. That is the only thing politicians understand.
