Zalman Rushdie is a famous writer and also a critic of Islam under 24/7 security supplied by the UK Govt. In spite of the Atyatollah's call that every Muslim should assassinate Rushdie for his book The Satanic Verses, the UK Govt just the same confered on Zalman a knighthood for his contributions to English Lit. The backlash was expected and accepted, but there was no thought of taking his name off the Honours List.
