Problem
However hard he tries the Back Pedal Routine....it cant stop the momentum forward
Because anybody following the negotiations KNOWS that the differences have narrowed dramatically
The position so far
We base the territorial definition of Palestine based on LAND AREA - equivalent to or greater than Pre 67 with options to purchase more land from Israel and Jordan
We trade every 1 unit of land released from J&S for 2 up to 3 elsewhere
Ramallah our State Capital and Jerusalem AlQuds the Spiritual Capital based on parts of East Jerusalem
Palestinian Refugees to be awarded compensation for 1. Loss of Property 2. Settlement in Palestine
Release of Prisoners to start with immediate effect but staggered for a weekly release and accelerating in numbers as the talks reach their conclusion
Joint Israel Palestine and Jordan Mutual Security arrangements
Palestine to recognise Israel as a Democratic State with its historic mandate to grant refuge to Jews from all over the world
Israel to recognise Palestine as a Democratic State with its historic mandate to grant refuge to Palestinians from all over the world
Israeli Citizens in Palestinian Territory will not be granted automatic Palestinian Citizenship., This will only be granted to Palestinian Refugees in the Diaspora and Israeli Arabs of Palestinian descent
Yes there are many other issues from water supply to rail, road connectivity to airports, trade...but all these matters are by and large already resolved
So can Erekat tell me WHATS LEFT

up the talks by unilaterally applying to some 15 different international treaties, contrary to the terms of reference of the talks, Israel ought to react in a constructive way:
Begin to incorporate Area C into the sovereign nation-state of Israel. Such a move, while best done in cooperation with the Arabs of the country, is very much grounded in international law which as early as 1920 assigned the whole area from the Jordan River to the Med. Sea to be the national home of the Jewish people, i.e. the Jewish people's nation-state. This legal act was then reiterated in 1922 and finally adopted by the UN and etched into its Charter, 1945.
Of particular interest is the fact that the late Mr. Yitzhaq Rabin's vision of peace was precisely along the very same lines. This can be examined by reading Rabin's speech at the Knesset, 5 Oct. 1995; his last one at the house and as if it was meant to be his political will.
I hope even the Obama/Kerry duo will have the humility to read and appreciate the fact that Rabin knew a thing or two about the region in general and about the Arab Israeli conflict in particular, something that they simply don't posses, despite the arrogance demonstrated so far.

Why do you think Netanyahu ordered police forces to brutalize Yitzhar?
Netanyahu is begging Abbas to give him something, anything so he won't appear like a total loser when the talks for Israel's surrender continue.
Netanyahu's problem is that Abbas holds him in such contempt that he won't give Netanyahu anything.
