31. Just say "So what?"
Shalom ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (04.20.14)
Why would Israel be oblged to do anything? If the Palestinian government decides to dismiss all its employees, that is its own decision and Israel is under no obligation to find them employment.
32. Cowardly leftists always crying the sky is falling.
Rachel ,   US   (04.21.14)
33. More BS
Aaron ,   Toronto,Canada   (04.21.14)
This is all bs from abASS and his cronies. Arafat was offered 98% of the west bank and he refused so go back and keep your BS to yourselves. Dissolve the pa and Israel deport all of you to Jordan where you belong.
34. PALESTINE, INC. IS IN NEED OF MONEY
Iranian Jew ,   LA USA   (04.21.14)
SO IS WB OCCUPIED OR NOT? MAKE UP YOUR MIND, ABBAS! Abbas thinks by threatening Israel, he can get his way. He keeps making excuses after excuses just no to sign a peace deal. He is not the real authority in WB anyway. He is just there to protect his future income and that is it. Israel will have to clean up WB and send the thugs to GAZA. The rest of WB can either live in peace with Israel or just become a useless land like GAZA.
35. #8: MARV: You are Marvelous!!
Israeli 2   (04.21.14)
That's the winning Israeli mentality.
36. Frightened left wing drek - Let Israel take control!

37. #16 - you do realize this is an opinion piece, right?
William ,   Israel   (04.21.14)
Not a well-research article but an opinion piece. Yeah, I can come up with tons of pros and cons, too....mostly pros, however. The Left has been claiming dossolving the PA would be horrible mostly because it will show they have been liars - in their claims the Oslo Accords were a good thing, in the claim that Abbas is a peace partner, in the claim that the "Palestinians" true intent was a peaceful 2-State solution. All lies. Now, the Left wants us to believe that if such a thing happened, it would destroy Israel....as if their own terrorist appeasement policies, giving away land for nothing, and support boycotts of Israel on the intl stage haven't been doing that already. Dissolving the PA would end the PLO's ability to skim foreign aid, to be protected from those who would destroy their members like Hamas, and legitimacy in residing in the area. The world gives much aid to the Pallys already who do nothing with it. Who's to say this wouldn't continue, funding both the UN and Israeli increased management of the population until a more suitable solution appears....like a confederation with Jordan and Areas A & B? If you think Israel will should the bill itself, you're loopy.
38. 11 not mine.

39. Now what kind of
Mira ,   Vienna   (04.21.14)
left BS is that? Stop all the fearmongering and let's go and face and solve another situation like we have done it now for 67 years. Why shouldn't we survive His Falsehood Abu Mazen. The question is if HE will survive....
40. #16. Leftists are infallibly wrong on every major issue.
Chaim ,   Israel   (04.21.14)
Faux Sarah, your ridiculous post says the left has been warning us the P.A. would dismantle itself. Who needs the warning. The fall of the P.A. would be a beautiful thing. It is nothing but a genocidal terrorist group. Leftists are infallibly wrong on every major issue. These leftist dolts urged Israel to cede Golan until about a year ago! Leftist "intellectuals" can still be seen on video telling Israel how wonderful life will be when Israel flees Gaza!
41. Begining of the end for the zionist entity.

42. No obligation
Bill ,   New York, USA   (04.21.14)
It is a non sequitur that if the PA disbands, Israel must provide social services. Israel would want to ensure arms do not flow in, but that is the extent of its interest. The logic of the Abbas argument is that if the Palestinians do not clean their own trash, deliver their own mail, bathe themselves, then Israelis must come in and do it personally. This is entirely made up. As long as the Israelis do not stop Palestinians from doing it themselves (and "occupation" is not an excuse) or stop others from peacefully helping them, Israel has no humanitarian obligation. These are the people who argue that they should actually run a country. Surely they jest.
43. Nahum" the fear mongrel" Barnea
Rick ,   USA   (04.21.14)
Is hard at work again.
44. Not much expected to change.
milwaukeebroad ,   Haifa, Israel   (04.21.14)
If the PA disbands, the current borders will remain for awhile. Israel has no interest in governing and policing the Palestinians. They're welcome to stay and accept things the way they'll be or they can pack up and leave.
45. Suits us fine.
milwaukeebroad ,   Haifa, Israel   (04.21.14)
That's one less liar Israel will have to contend with in the long run. But be prepared for Hamas to try to step in to fill the void. It takes only two working brain cells to see it coming.
46.  Israel would have to enter the vacuum created -WHY???
Alan ,   SA   (04.21.14)
47. TO MR. BARNEA...
FO ,   Belgium   (04.21.14)
Again and again we are forced to read the same nonsense: "...Israel will be forced to stand before a new international and legal situation. Every house that will be build in eastern Jerusalem and the West Bank will be considered illegal according to the Fourth Geneva Conventions". Even Prof. Eugene Rostow (ever heard about him Mr. Barnea?) the author of UNSC Resolution 242, that became the cornerstone for an Israeli-Arab settlement, explained that the Fourth Geneva Conventions are not applicable to Israel. That Israel has the same right to settle in the so-called territories as it has right to settle in Haifa or elsewhere, according to Article 80 of the United Nations Charter. Article 80 that reaffirms all the League of Nations' decisions, including, of course, the Mandate for Palestine, voted unanimously by all the 51 League's members, the 24th of July 1922. A Mandate that gave legal power to the San Remo decision to create a Jewish State, and gave the Jews the irrevocable right to settle between the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River, including the Golan Heights, a right that became International Law and guaranteed by the Anglo- American Treaty of 1924, what became the Law of the State in the USA! The "West Bank", including East Jerusalem, were never part of Jordanian real estate, and never a "High Contracting Party" (an independent state), as formulated in the Geneva Conventions, but are and remain a residual part of the Mandate for Palestine. The only country that may pretend legal ownership on this territory, is Israel. For the "Left", all this should have remained classified material, just to prevent by all means that the public would suddenly realize, that a Jewish State could have been established in the years thirties, what would have prevented the Shoah. But even before San Remo and the League's Mandate, the Left majority in the Zionist Movement proclaimed that its aim wasn't a Jewish State, that the Jewish State had never been part of the Zionist program, but just the title of Herzl's pamphlet (Read introduction to the two-volume "History of Zionism" by Nahum Sokolov). Having kept all this classified, and preventing its disclosure today, is adding insult to injury!
48. annex area C & settlement blocks
CJK   (04.21.14)
israel must annex area C immediately. israel must annex all of the settlement blocks immediately. israel cannot continue to live in constant uncertainty. israel must not count on the good will of the west regardless of what israel does. hence, israel must do what is best for her.
49. HAMAS TYPE LEADERSHIP MUST RULE ALL PALESTINIANS
atilla karagözoğlu   (04.21.14)
israel only understands from blood. israel can only be stopped with blood. SO ! HAMAS CAN GIVE A GREAT WAR TO ISRAEL IF ALL PALESTINIANS GET IN UNDER ITS CONTROL.
50. #1 Yes and when?
BUILD BABY BUILD!!!!   (04.21.14)
ANNEXATION AND REPATRIATION!!! Exact date for removing pals after obama is out of office? KEEP BUILDING!!!!
51. To: No. 3
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (04.21.14)
You've forgotten one rather large point. Israel will annex Judea and Samaria. At that point, all of the Arabs residing therein will instantly become undesirable aliens. Since they are not stateless, but rather citizens of Jordan, we're going to repatriate them. Yes, Israel wins. Just like we won all the wars.
52. Why?
emanon ,   USA   (04.21.14)
The article says "... offering ... security, education and welfare services at a cost Israel cannot afford". What obligates Israel to provide these services to a stateless people devoted to killing Israeli civilians and trying to wipe Israel out of existence? How is this an Israeli problem? Unless, of course, the arabs return the lands they cannot govern and want to become peaceful Israeli citizens.
53. What does Nahum Barnea suggest?
michael redboun ,   Lisbon - Portugal   (04.21.14)
There were never any peace talks, only the PA demanding an end to Israel. Israelis have to pay social security insurance and taxes and if Arabs do that then there will be money to support them. Bituach Leumi (Israel's Social Security system) is super rich because it takes in much more than it pays out!
54. To: Emanon at No. 52
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (04.21.14)
They are NOT stateless. That's the whole point! They are Jordanian citizens, and they should be repatriated there, and become the tiny king's problem!
55. To: BBB at No. 50
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (04.21.14)
I'd rather do it before Obama leaves office. Kind of rub his nose in it, you know? Show him what we really think of him.

58. To No. 54
Bertram ,   London, UK   (04.22.14)
I am weary of asking the same question time after time but given that since 1988 Jordan has withdrawn citizenship from the West Bank Palestinians what is to be done? Simply saying they are not stateless will not gain them entry to Jordan. Then what? Put them on a plane to nowhere?
59. Dismantling the PA would be GREAT FOR EVERYONE except the US
GREAT IDEA   (04.22.14)
and Abbas.......... Make the world a safer more peaceful place. GO AHEAD ABBAS. DO IT.
