1. antisemitism and haredi
milson   (04.21.14)
As a jew whose wife is not jewish, but whose kids were mar mitzvahed and raised in the faith, I have some perspective on antisemitism. Bullies throughout the ages pick on those who look weak or submissive. they don't usually pick on those who look like they can fight back. Now, looking at the haredi, and its their leaders who are responsible for this, they loook weak, submissive, they are clearly identifiable;in fact they invite attacks whehter its the kippah wearing jews in Paris or the old jews in Ukraine or the haredi in jerusalem. This has to change! bullies do not pick on lapid , on general gallant, on eisencott, on leiberman ie on israelis who have learned martial skills or some form of fighting. they pick on the beilins, the ben amis, the peres's, the olmerts and the herzogs, whether the bullying is physical or psychological in negotiations.. The lessons of history are clear: all jews need to be able to fight back period, no excuses. So all the haredi and their rabbinic leaders have to go into martial arts classes right away along side of their studies. The can devote 90 minutes daily to self defense training. This is a must. Moreover, haredi should if possible not wear identifiable dress in public places. it is not tolerable for jews to raise their kids as haredi without martial skills training. Rabbis are wrong and the book is wrong as well if self defense is not permitted. Christians view jews as haredi types and they generalize. israeli, many of whom go into the idf and a more confident fighting jews has been bred. But there are sill too many submissive pacifists in the jewish grouping and for the jews to survive, the haredi have to be able to beat their aggressors.
2. Men Only? Fine. Wash your own dishes
ASTRONAUT ,   SC, USA   (04.21.14)
Sometimes, ladies, it is a blessing to be "separated" from the hirsute conviviality of Male Bonding. 'Herschel" is out for the evening? Great! Enjoy your time off!
3. memouna
judith.heiberg.levy@ ,   Hadera   (04.22.14)
It's ok for them to eat what the women cooked and baked, but not to have thw women around. Isnt this just disgusting
4. Beit Shemesh first?
Righteous Zionist ,   Israel   (04.21.14)
Is Ashdod to be the next casualty in the Haredi takeover? Or are this just another stag event with a belly-dancer? ;-)
5. A few thousand women need to attend.
David ,   Hartford USA   (04.21.14)
These men are living in the dark ages. Sounds like Israeli women are dhimmis!
6. This is news ? GET A FRICKING LIFE PPL
Shadoil79 ,   Jerusalem   (04.22.14)
7. Circumcised men only. Idiots only. Many sick chosen people.
Michael ,   California, USA   (04.22.14)
8. Sick - Sick - Sick!
Veronique ,   Israel   (04.22.14)
Sickening! I hope they had to prepare their food themselves and that they cleaned up afterwards too! This does not belong in the 21st century!
9. Something new on the news
R ,   Israel   (04.22.14)
Every year the TV-watching Israeli public is treated to "news" showing groups of women preparing treats for Mimuna, followed by groups of politicians visiting the houses of the groups of women who prepared the treats. Maybe this year there will actually be something new on the news and we will see groups of men only looking around going "Where is the food? Where are the politicians?" Well, I can dream.
10. 1 Not related to"men only"article.
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (04.22.14)
11. It was a private event
Zvika ,   Jerusalem   (04.22.14)
what's the big deal? You don't like it? Don't attend. Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill. Is this non-event more important than reporting the missles fired at Sderot on the Chag? How about reporting that?
12. Pure criminal bigotry.
A Jerusalemite ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (04.22.14)
13. Warped minds
gp ,   Tel Aviv   (04.22.14)
Apart from the need to examine why religion has to mean misogyny, these primitives need to get on their camels back to their desert and leave civilized society to get on with life - men and women together, as equals, without the need for one to stifle the other. Deri is just a wannabe Ashkenazi. They all had to copy the Polish hasidic cults for acceptance (well, in theory, for they'll never conquer that lot's medieval time warp) and this is the result.
14. So what?
Esther ,   Bet Shemesh   (04.22.14)
Is it news that religious men and women often have separate events? When there are "women only" events, nobody reports them.
