The Israeli Left will do everything to keep the very profitable (for them) "peace process" going, but they can't pretend reality does not exist. PLO and Hamas see each others as brothers, fighting together against the occupation of Israel by Jews. They have tactical disagreements, but both agree that Israel must be clean of Jews for there to be peace. PLO-Hamas unity is not a charade.

And will Hamas and Islamic |Jihad be bound by any agreement in the unlikely event of therebeing one between Israel and the Palis? How could they be since their charter states that they will never recognise Israel's right to exist, let alone Israel as a Jewish State.

"Peace talks" between Israel and the P.A. were always an evil charade. The P.A. admitted, many times, the talks were part of a plan to destroy Israel. With the Fatah/Hamas unity deal, the last excuse for these monstrous talks is gone. Let every sane Israeli DEMAND their permanent end.

As for the confederation with Jordan, that's a more likely option, as pushed by senior PLO members, for a true peace and self-governance. And until a peace deal with Israel is finalized, which includes Israel accepted as a Jewish State and homeland (with admission to historical rights to land and holy places), no option is off the table. Probably why the PA officials keep making sure their Jordanian passports are still valid.
