31. #10 What a lot of BS.
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (05.07.14)
Yes Bibi is not the best PM - but there is no way he can be blamed for not reaching a 'peace' deal with the Pals. For goodness sakes - wake up. The Pals cannot even recognize Israel or tolerate Jews in any real capacity. They are a sworn enemy who masquerade before the world as 'peace partners' - nothing could be further from the truth. Mate, if 'leaders' of your mentality ever got to make decisions - you would not be living in Netanya for very long - may be not even alive! LOL!! Gotta be joking....
32. There is no deal until Palestinians say so publicly
Sam ,   Canada   (05.07.14)
We've already heard previously what Palestinians supposedly say in private. They can say anything in private. What counts is what they say in English and Arabic to the people. How many "refugees" are Palestinians demanding Israel let in? That's the first hint as to whether Palestinians are serious about peace or not.
33. Thank G-d for Netanyahu.!!
Ram ,   London   (05.07.14)
34. dont forget: we owe Peres f.i. our military capab.+more; it gave us the possibility to survive!

35. Two More Months for "President" Peres
miri ,   israel   (05.07.14)
Do away with this office and save the country an exorbitant amount that can be put to better use. Mr. Peres was definitely out of line if and when he held these meetings with Abbas.
36. nothing changes
(05.07.14)
As Yitzhak Rabin said "Peres is an unstoppable back-stabber"
37. Peres has way overstepped the mark here
zionist forever   (05.07.14)
The Israeli presidency is supposed to be a ceremonial one and Peres has been famous as being a politically active president, first day on the job he said he planned to release Marwan Bargouti and he regularly oversteps the boundaries of the presidency but this is a step to far. The man sounds like he is a member of the palestinian blame game team or the leader of Meretz saying this is why you should vote for us and not Netanyahu. No president has the right to go on national tv and criticise government policy especially on Yom Hatzmaut which is supposed to be a celebration of Israel's independence not a day for peace process politics. the man has way overstepped the mark this time and its time for him to step down if he wants to have a voice in politics rather than just be a ceremonial figure.
38. the same old song....
Toledano Jean-Pierre ,   Israel   (05.07.14)
It's the same old song: working with Shimon Peres is knowing that at the end he let you fall and was going his own way. It was always like that: in government coalitions,in his own party, etc... I also don't understand, with that knowledge in his mind, Netanyahu let him such a freedom to negotiate. The President of Israel is a "ceremonic" function. Keep it like that. Now, his recent interview about the reaction of his wife, Sonja, against his candidacy to become the President of Israel: he couldn't live or function without politics. Well, I'm sure that he couldn't live without the attention of the media circus around him. But, I personally hail him because of his non polical past. When he was in charge as director-general of Defence he made of Israel a military very strong country. For that: thanks a lot, Shimon.
39. At least Shimon got a (useless) Nobel Peace Prize
A ,   Belgium   (05.07.14)
for his part in the Oslo disaster. Can't blame the right for THAT one.
40. #31
Jez ,   netanya   (05.08.14)
Ah Steve - the US has always been the land of the brave. Its easy to talk big from 6000 miles away but you clearly dont understand this country or the environment we live in . Your approach has been tried and tested for many decades and has not made good progress. We need to be more imaginative than the Pals as you call them and just reciting the same old platitudes doesnt really advance anything, But I guess from Silver Bay - it doesnt really matter - someones elses problem, someone elses kids endangered
