1. Politicians who give more to the
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (05.12.14)
citizens get more from the citizens. Lapid ,lead by your example! Actions, not words.
2. I agree with the minister 100%...
Al   (05.12.14)
If you don't serve then no one owes you a thing. Its as simple as that. If a certain segment of the Jewish population refuses to serve than the other Jews owe them nothing. Thats how it works. Life sucks doesn't it.
3. In that case ....
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (05.12.14)
... can we please cut off the Satmar, the Neturei Karta and the "Palestinians?" Parasites, all.
4. VERY expensive service to country
Bert ,   israel   (05.12.14)
Each recruit gets 18% off a 1.6 mill house - that's about 288k of tax that the gov will not get. So if we see the gov as a single entity, the altruistic recruits are effectively earning 96k per year through this, well in excess of minimum wage. the gov will have to get that money from elsewhere. they'd be much better of abandoning wasteful conscription and paying better salaries to professional staff. (but then i guess lapid will miss out on some haredi bashing)
5. Lapid is being stupid and stubborn
Allon   (05.12.14)
While the idea that citizens who have shown their responsibility by serving is hard to disagree with, he is locking out Arab and the Ultra-Orthodox completely from his plan. This will be thrown out by the court as soon as they realize that the 600,000 limit is unreasonable. Another point is that his own economists at the Treasury think that a 0% Vat will only act to raise real estate prices and will not provide any relief to the people it is meant to benefit. Lapid is a team player as long as he can be the captain and the umpire at the same time.
6. This Can Only Be Said By Someone....
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (05.12.14)
who has absolutely no appreciation for the value of Torah and Torah learning. He has no concept of how important Torah is to the Jewish people and how important learning it means for us. Goyim talk with more appreciation and understanding than this guy. Like father, like son.
7. 3 The Satmar don't take anything
Observer ,   israel   (05.12.14)
from the State israel.
8. Agree- partially
SBR ,   Jerusalem   (05.13.14)
How partially correct Mr. Lapid is. those who give to Israel should get in return. Torah learning is the ultimate form of national service and therefore Torah scholars should get at least the same VAT discount as everyone else.
9. #3 for your information
Danny   (05.12.14)
Satmar and Neturei Karta don't take a single shekel from the Zionists and neither do many other yeshivos living under self-hating Jewish lawless racist government.
10. Sarah the princess
Allan ,   USA   (05.13.14)
Palestinians get nothing from israel except occupation. If you mean Israeli arabs? Aren't they exempt from service?
11. Also, in that case, take citizenship away from those
Michael ,   California, USA   (05.12.14)
who do not serve, who do not recognize the state, who want sharia (oops, I meant torah ...) law to be the state guide. Those who give more set the example for the others to follow. If the others refuse, deny them citizenship rights in Israel.
12. YAY Lapid! You have done it again!
A Jerusalemtie ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (05.12.14)
13. Cut benefits to ultra orthadox
Nancy   (05.12.14)
14. 6Reuven, hitler knew he couldn't be
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (05.13.14)
the master of the world as long as Jews and the Holy Jewish books existed. That's why the nazis were ordered to eradicate them.
15. I also have "no concept of how important Torah is"
Michael ,   California, USA   (05.13.14)
Honestly, be'emet, believe me: torah has minimal meaning beyond the trees that were cut to make the paper. Open your eyes, yes in Raanana along Weitzman Street, you could see some light.
