1. israaueli corruption: 'PROTECTSIA"
Larry ,   LA (formerly)   (05.13.14)
having come first to Israel in 68, I have seen corruption at all levels of goverment, not just at the top. What is happening is that instead of the government ignoring it, it is now prosecuting corruption. This is new. Olmert and co. just are continuing a long tradition of corruption from the top to the bottom. Olmert and co. just happen to be caught in the beginning of a new standard (perhaps) for all government workers, but know, they were ALL corrupt; it was the way things worked here and it was called then: 'PROTECTSIA"
2. The problem...
Michael ,   Haifa   (05.13.14)
...is the high level of tolerance by the Israeli public to Corruption. It goes back to the shtetl and shtetl practices in the formative years of the State to the present day. It is well documented in Ehud Shprinzak's book "Every Man Whatsoever Is Right In His Own Eyes - Illegalism In Israeli Society"

Is that the AG is political. They will pursue obviously innocent men who are of the wrong politics like Lieberman, Shalom and maybe Katsav, but will ignore far worse crimes by Leftists, like Barak, Herzog and Weizman.
4. Lieberman is not under investigation!!! Left wing drek!

Olmert still expresses no remorse!
6. Corruption! The whole system is corrupt!
Rich ,   Toronto, Canada   (05.13.14)
Olmert obviously fell out of favor with the Mafia elite at the top. The man gave his whole life to Israel and this is the thanks he gets - six years in prison. Why anyone would want to be Prime Minister in Israel is beyond me. The job is absolute hell.
7. Damn, at this rate we MAY become a "Light unto the Nations"!
tom ,   tel aviv   (05.13.14)
On the other hand it also singles us out among so many other, corrupted societies and I don't mean Somalia....But this is the way toward a better society by large.
8. Protectsia
David ,   UK   (05.13.14)
This is long overdue. I agree with others who suggest that historically there has been far too much tolerance in Israel society of corruption which people call "protectsia" and laugh off with a nod and a wink as if it is acceptable. Protectsia = corruption.

Not quite from the shtetl where principles of yashrut and honesty was in mother's milk. it came with the petty socialists and communists that started the secular society here. In these systems, and especially in a small pool, there is never enough and the shameless steal what they can to get ahead.
10. Congrats Israel

Sign of a healthy justice system and of rule of law. Can't see this happen in Holland, where everything goes under the carpet.
