I agree with the sentiment of your post, however, permit me to point out that the "Palestinians" are a vanquished people (six wars in which they were the aggressor; six defeats). They have whatever crumbs Israel may generously choose to toss their way. And that is all they have. There is no such thing as "Palestinian" land in any event -- there has never in history been a sovereign entity called "Palestine," and Judea and Samaria, the "Palestinian" land to which they THINK they hold right, title and interest is in fact, nonsovereign, and belongs to the victor who prevailed against the aggressor, i.e., Israel, who reacquired Judea and Samaria in the course of fighting a defensive war against Jordan. A strict constructionist approach to black-letter international law is quite clear: Israel has the right to settle, retain and even annex all nonsovereign land acquired in the course of fighting a defensive war. The Arabs squatting thereon are NOT stateless (they are Jordanian citizens, courtesy of Jordan's 1954 Citizenship Law). Anyone who suggests otherwise is simply ignorant of international law and convention.
